Maine coons are awesome kitties!!! I have owned them before, now i have a blue tradiotional dollface persian (no pug face). If you are comparing them breed wise... they are the equvilant to a great dane. They are known as the "gentle giants" Compared to other cat breeds they are going to be bigger. ours at 6 months was right around the 10 pound mark. He was highly active, so for him it was hard to say if he was fat or muscle.

"Some breeds of cats are very large, Maine Coons, for example, and a 9 lb, 7 month old male Maine Coone could be quite normal. "

Male Maine Coons are going to be large and heavy cats so it's not out of the realm of possibility that yours is a good weight. The only one that can tell you definatively is your vet. A quick phone call to him/her should be able to answer your question beyond a doubt.

I would say about 5-8 pounds. I have a 7 year old neutered Maine Coon that I call "Fat Boy". He weighs about 19 pounds but he is a little overweight.

If I were you, I'd consult a vet or research it on the internet.

I know Main Coons are big, sturdy fellas, so it certainly wouldn't be the same as other cat breeds.
