IMAs are paid only when actually performing military duties; this includes training days and the two weeks annual duty you're required to serve. IMAs are required to perform military duty for a set number of days a year, but they get to choose when they perform this duty (including the two weeks annual duty requirement). Not all bases have an IMA program, so you may not get assigned to the base you want.

IMAs get points as well, but they do get paid for the time they actually serve on active duty.
