Yes - butterfiles are symbolic of those who have passed on - they are believed to appear until the person left behind comes to terms with the fact their loved ones are gone.

Butterflies And Death

Before my uncle died last summer, I saw a butterfly on my doorbell, after doing reiki to him, to help him "go". Butterflies are not necessary a symbol of death, but definitely a symbol. That does not mean of course that you should get horrified when you see a butterfly next time though. They are -among other beings- just Divine messengers.

Everyone has their own beliefs and i am sure you will get many different answers, none of them will be wrong and for a lot non of them will be right. Its called familarity by association, you associate butterflies with death and when you see a butterfly it helps you cope with these huge losses. No one can tell you it isn't them, and i know full well from experience that those you love are still around you. My grandma passed away in October 2004 and in certain rooms in my grandads house at certain times you will smell her perfume which does not exist in the house. Maybe it is all in the mind, but i am happy as i sure you are with living with these associations

No generally butterflies do not symbol death, but the rebirth of something beautiful. Thus the caterpiller entering into a cacoon and emerging as a beautiful butterfly. Let the butterflies continue to be a sense of warmth. I don't believe in reincarnation but I do believe that God works in mysterious ways and sends us signs to help us through life's hardships.

I do automatic writing and have done so for over 30 years. Many times those who have passed on have used butterflies as a means of simply saying hello - I haven't forgotten you. One father even sent two butterflies to his daughters wedding (it was held outdoors) They hovered over the bride and groom during their vows and then left. The amazing part was that the father promised to do this ahead of time and I didn''t know that it was to be a garden wedding. Just think of it as a hug and kiss from the other side and enjoy.

Butterflies do not necessarily symbolise death but what they could be symbolising is your way of knowing that the people that you love are happy on the other side.
I guess the buttery fly is a way of showing you personally that your loved ones have moved on so you should also.
Hope that helped xxx

Butterflies do not symbolize death. They're part of nature.
