its my first time on this site and all ive seen is people puttin down catholics, protestants,muslims, homosexuals. i thought this was supposed to be a religious site?

Welcome to Y!A Religion and Spirituality. There are some general and honest questions on the board. You just have to know where to look and be patient. There are some nice people here too, from all walks of life and religions. Unfortunitly, they seem to be drowned out every day by those who like to mock others.

The category is 'Religion & Spirituality', not 'Believers in Religion & Spirituality'. In any other category you will find people debating many different sides of an issue. For some reason, religious people get offended if you don't agree with them. Are you one of them?

Nah it's open to all, and you are correct that instead of using it to educate or have positive discussion, mostly it's used for smears and attacks which foster hatred and increase ignorance and misunderstanding.
There are those who want to make a better use of it, and for those I say no trolls should discourage us from attempting to foster respects and better understanding of one another.

Isn't that what monotheistic religion is all about? Putting down other faiths, bashing people of other cultures, and spreading intolerance? If not, then my bad. That's the impression I've gotten from spending time here.

the christians are the worst thay hate the gays and the aheists but that is in the usa the catholics have pedophile preasts and the pope covers that up and the muslims are stuck with osama bin lardan

yes, the majority of the answers are from the uneducated or bored or kids, so if you are looking for better people/answers, this might not be the place.

it sure has lured them in, but I don't think yahoo intended this. it's mostly in the American version.
