i quite like my neighbours, although they can be a little strange sometimes. Would love to hear some funny stories about your neighbours whether good or bad! Do you go out of your way to keep your neighbours happy?

No, I can't stand them! My upstairs neighbors are the loudest, rudest people in the world. They seem to have no sense of what "quiet hours" are, or if they do, they don't respect them. On the first day they bought the place, they brought over about 75 people (in an 800 sq condo, mind) to celebrate, and they let their young daughter run up and down and up and down the hallway, making my ceiling shake and driving my poor puppy crazy until about 10 PM. Then, when they moved in, they were bringing in boxes and slamming them on the floor (seriously, it sounded like they just let the boxes go at about chest height to drop to the floor) until 2 in the morning on Monday! Ever since, I hear them every moment they're home, doing everything from clomping around talking at top volume at 1 AM on Tuesday to running loud power tools at 7 AM on Sunday to having sex every damn night of the week.

The last straw for me was Christmas Eve. They had warned me that they were going to have people over and that it might be "kinda loud" (we'd been upstairs numerous times to ask them to please be quiet - I mean, when I can tell what channel your TV is tuned to when I've got my TV on, too, your TV is too loud!), so we went out for the evening and left the TV on to soothe our puppy, because she gets nervous about too much noise from upstairs. So, when we got home at 11 PM, we could hear the noise from their party loud and clear from the parking lot (about 75 yards away) and when we entered our condo, it was a disaster. The TV was still on, but it might as well have been on mute, because you couldn't hear it at all over the thumping music from upstairs. The walls were shaking from the force of their music. The dog was crying and upset. Every once in awhile, someone from upstairs would let out a loud scream just for the hell of it. We went upstairs to explain that we knew this was a holiday celebration, but it was late and we couldn't hear ourselves think downstairs. They apologized, but it took them another 45 minutes to turn the music down. The party was *just* starting to break up when I gave up, put in the ear plugs I bought just to block them out, and went to sleep at 2 AM. Loud, rude-a** bastards. HAAATE!

Not really - they complain about everything! My hubby and I do like to listen to music and have a bit of a sing along every now and again but never really loudly and hardly ever late or on week nights but they just don't seem to like us having any kind of fun what so ever! We were listening to a music DVD on the TV the other evening (about 10:30) and the volume was not loud at all but the women that lives next door came round and pounded on the window before running away!
They're really nosey and are always twitching their curtains and snooping about - there was a car crash outside our house before Christmas and they were straight out there checking out the damage, which I though was really insensitive as the people in the accident were shaken up.
Also they have a really annoying son who throws tantrums and practises a tuba at 7:30 every morning - we never complain about that so I think they need a lesson in tolerance!

Cant say so much about my neighbours but I have no problem with the occupants of the houses next to mine. I hardly know them as we hardly meet. We see each other but do not interact at all. The women interact more but not the men. We even socialize away from the neighborhood and when we do return to the houses we enter straight in and lock ourselves. Kind of weird but this is how modernization has made us - ever suspicious of one another. The other day I returned at dusk and recognized one of my neighbors. I tried catching up with him and said Hi. The more I tried to talk to him the more he walked faster away until he was like trotting away.

No I don't! I live in a block of 4 flats. 2 at the bottom and 2 on top. I live in 1 at the top.

We have got the bloke with the loudest, bellowing voice in the world living below us and the girl is alwaya screeching. We can literally hear every word of every convo they have. Plus they are usually up until about 3-4 in the morning on weekdays, so we can hear them until that time when I have to get up for work at 6.30. Anyway I never complain about this because I just can't be bothered and it doesn't bother me too much.

Well, the other night we got home at about 1am on a week night coz we had been out somewhere. The next day, can you believe the cheek of it, the bloody bloke only came upstairs with the raging hump! First he asked if my 'other half' was in which he weren't so he decided he would rant at me instead. 'I don't know what time you have to go to work but I have to get up early so I don't appreciate you making loads of noise when you get in at 1 in the morning. You woke me up last night and it was only my gf that stopped me coming up here an taking the door down. I don't mind if you want to have a party at the weekend, just let us know but its taking the p*ss in the week. Its just about f*cking me off now'.

I couldn't even say anything I was in too much shock. Like we got in late every night or something! And cheek when him and his gf are up til 3-4 some days making noise. And party?! The only people that go back to the flat are me n my bf and we live there! Does he know what a party is?! I mean for God's sake, what a c*ck!!!

i understand a number of there names. does no longer say all neighbours are friendly yet tend to assert hi to anybody passing. Get some that are nosey and attempt and quiz you, yet then you definitely understand they bypass all that info around the section. So am careful of what i say! I do think of whilst i replaced right into a new child our neighbours have been alot friendler.

My neighbors are great. Before I bought the house next door to them, they were my landlord. I've known them since 1979. They take care of my house and cats when I need to be out of town. We take care of each others yard and garden all summer. I watch their house when they are away. We have daughters that are the same age and the girls went to school together. On the morning my Mother passed away in her bed, it was my neighbor that helped my dad until I could get home from work. She let her daughter stay home from school to be with my daughter. They've been wonderful and I'm blessed that they are both a neighbor and friends.

Nope
They have people in and out of their house all the time, they are def doing something illegal, I think they are Russian but it's all hours, dorrs slamming and thsn there is the 17 punk son. His Mom is barely home and he blast music all the time-at like 1 am and smokes pot in the backyard(I live in a townhouse) and it is right by my daugher's window.
I am not trying to sound prudish because I was a teenager once but I respected my neighbors and my mom.
sigh, I wish they would move

I love my neighbor...she babysits our 7 month old for free which is so nice. When we moved in she brought over hot chocolate and brownies for everyone that was helping us. When I had just had my baby, she made us an awesome dinner. She is very sweet.
I wish I had the time to do stuff like that for her but between work, a baby and my marriage, I have no time! I have bought her a gift certificate and flowers to thank her before.

we are thinking of buying our home and our next door neighbours are quite loud and noisy. we live in a semi detached house and at times it sounds like the young girls next door are slamming shut and running up and down my stairs. i have asked my neighbour numerous times if she wouldnt mind trying to keep her children quiet especially when its late at night because i have a young child and it isnt fair on him when he gets woken up by them, she always apologises but it still goes on. i love the home i live in, but im going to have to make a big decision whether i should buy my home or move. with a bit of luck they will grow up fly the nest and then ill have peace and quiet and maybe buy the house after all lol

Yes I do (like my neighbors). Even those that many people don't. I've found out that when you are nice and helpful to others, they often reciprocate in kind, even those neighbors that are considered hard to get along with by others.

You want to take the initiatives to be friendly and helpful first. Then watch the results. Then the wonderful cycle starts...
