You can use your ATM card anywhere in Thailand. There are PLENTY of ATMs in the big cities and any major tourist destinations. As many people already point out - it is YOUR bank that is the issue here regarding how much they charge to withdraw money, so...... when withdrawing, make it worthwhile.
I have used both travellers cheques and Travelex cards and they are very convenient. If this is your first time travellign overseas, here is a tip : have back up plans. Have some cash, credit cards and travel money (cheques or travelex) so if you lose one of these you have other options.
And don't keep all your various cards and money in the same place. (I always have one credit card and half my travellers cheques kept away from my person - say , hidden in a locked bag back at the hotel or in the hotel safe)

Wells Fargo Bank charges went from $3 to $5 per withdrawal.
Compass Bank charges nothing.
The ATMs in Thailand charge nothing or reasonably small charges that have never offended me like the outrageous Wells Fargo charges.
Check with your bank and if necessary, change banks.

The real concern you should have is not where you will withdraw money (just use ATMs as others have said), but how much YOUR BANK will charge you. Wells fargo charged me a foreign currency conversion fee, a fee for not using a Wellsfargo ATM and then a fee for using their ATM card outside the US...
Check carefully with your bank here before you go.

It depends which bank you are with. It's best to visit your branch and ask about charges abroad for withdrawing money from ATMs and what you need to look for on the machine itself
hope this helps

Check if your bank ATM card can be used overseas. If not ask for one that will allow you todo so. And check your bank charges for overseas withdrawal. Some do not levy any charge at all.
ATM will be the simplest. and easiest. So just your bank charges will apply.
