Kofi Annan was born on April 8th 1938 in the city of Kumasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana and spent his early years there before moving to Cape Coast where he completed his high school studies after which time he returned to Kumasi and studied at the university there. As far as I can tell these are the only two places he lived in Ghana before leaving to study in the US.
Kumasi is the second city in Ghana (the capital Accra being the first) and although Cape Coast sounds like a section of coast line it's the name of a city.
Many sources state Kofi Annan was born in the Kufandros section of Kumasi. Kufandros does not exist, it seems to be one of these mistakes that has multipled itself across the internet.

Mr. Kofi Annan as a ghanaian from kumasi. he attended mfantsipim school in ghana which is the first and the oldest secondary school in ghana.

Kofi Annan is a native of Kofandros section of Kumasi, Ghana.
He has a twin sister.
