I live in Ohio, I am a good parent and I do not have any drug or alcohol problems, etc. My oldest son has gotten into some trouble and is on probation. I told his Prob. Officer I knew about him badmouthing behind my back, forgot about my son while he was in JDC, and I was aware of him plotting with other parent's family to send my son to them. My son and I overheard him talking with his boss and said I couldn't have custody; she told him, I don't know what you're going to do but it'd better be fast. He has scared my mother into fighting me for custody. My son knows only part of what happened, but I was told I should just give them up because I cannot win, it's already been decided when he spoke to the Judge. I'm not financially well off, I don't know where to turn. I'm dedicated to my kids and this tears my heart out. Can anyone help me?

try talking to the judge. this would be an "ex parte" meeting. show yourself as being concerned about the situation. good luck.

If you are a good parent and do not have any drug or ETOH problems, why is your mother fighting you for custody? Whatever the story is, you as a biological parent have statutory rights that are very rarely suspended unless there is a clear showing to the Court that it is in you son's "best interest".

If you are not financially well off, go to Legal Aid and you may qualify for a pro bono attorney. You do need an attorney in this because you are up against "the system".

Also, what does your son want? He has a voice in this as well, a small one because of the legal issue, but nevertheless he does have a voice.

U r not telling the whole story and when a person usually doesn't tell the whole story they r usually hiding something as u r obviously doing. Why is JDC and the judicial Dept. involved in ur life in the first place? Because u and ur son r perfect angels and don't bother anyone or get into any trouble at school or with each other. He's been taken away from u for a good reason The dept. of children and families just don't randomly take children from their mothers and give them to grandparents who they think can do a better job than their own parents can. And what did he do to be in Juvvy with a probation officer assigned to him? Sure u got me convinced, now take ur medicine as they spoon it to u or pay for a good lawyer one way or another.

Hire an attorney that isn't afraid of the PO.
