In most states there are 25 questions and you can miss only 2 or 3. Some states are harder to get you license if you do not have your birth certificate. I really varies here. The best thing is to look into what state you wish the license in and find out their requirements. Sometimes you can even order information books from states that are willing and some give you extra time when you move here to study and make sure you have everything they need.

Where I live in the USA, a computer test is required and you have to score 26 or 28 out of 30, similar to your exam.
As long as you study the driver pre-test manual, you'll be good to go!

In the UK we apparently have the hardest test of anywhere except Germany, but I'm not sure if I believe that - I passed first time without any trouble. In the USA all you're asked to do is to drive three blocks in a straight line, turn a corner, and reverse a bit - I could do it with my eyes closed!

Yes, it is getting harder and harder everyday. You have to meet identification requirements, residence requirements, driver's education requirements, etc. The list gets longer everyday.
