Is it just me or are there a thousand morons on here that think they know everything there is to know about mental illness. the one that really shits me is when people say 'oh you must have a personality disorder'. ******* hell. Psychiartists have been studing this illnes for years and don't completley understand what it is all about. You know what, some people should just keep their mouths shuts. it is bad enough to falsely label someone with an illness but do you even have any concept of how frightening it is to be told they have a personality disorder when they don't. Jesus! before you make your moronic assumptions do some bloody research. some of us have been researching this for so long now, either because we have it or we are caring about someone who does and i think you'll find that most still don't understand it all, so don't diagnose something that it quite clearly isn't because you have no idea of the damage you cause. Sorry just a rant. it just really angers me when morons

i agree with you. i am a mental health professional, retired, and have see some really bizarre answers. even tho i have 30 years experience, i only answer the questions that i have experience with. i will do some diagnosing, but usually say, check with a doctor. however the good suggestions usually outweigh the bad suggestions. it is up to the asker to figure out what he feels is the best suggestions. i know it upsets you, but some people don't have a clue, and may think they are trying to help. some people are down right rude, and it is best to ignore them. usually the other answerer's will give them thumbs down. a good observation on your part.if u don't mind me diagnosing you , i would say you are suffering from intelligence, and a good deal of insight, and you are right on the money

I don't think anyone on here should be diagnosing a mental illness. I agree w/ you. I think those of us who have suffered w/ a mental illness (I have depression and Borderline Personality Disorder) can offer support and express what we went through and what meds we have used. I agree that only a qualified psychiatrist should be diagnosing mental illness. I hope that the people who are seeking advice realize they are not talking to doctors, just regular people and some morons and should not listen to anyone who says they can diagnose them especially over the internet. I will continue to offer advice myself, but I would never attempt to diagnose anybody as I am not a doctor. Thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention.

yeah buddy I got one for you! The best answers are those who have been down the same road and know exactly what to expect. There are millions suffering from some form of mental health and the ones that have been through it now first hand what to expect, such as side effects and what works best for them. Doctors are not always right ya no? Not unless you are a doctor and think you are above all the many millions that has the exact same things as we are going through. Just keep Your moron mouth shut and if you dont agree with it then--- all I can say is you may need to see someone about your absolute anger probleml

I totally agree, and its true that alot of morons are those who have no phd's just a rude way of explaining things that does more damage than good.
If it helps i have a friend who i support as an assistant and i have no idea about her condition and illness but 'hope' in a god that i believe is the definite means of cure from it. Jesus delivered the man from gaderenes from a legion of spirits who tormented his mind continually, the sad thing was, His own people coudn't do anything to help him or stop what was tormenting him to such a point, of driving him out of the city, leaving him absolutely alone and without help in a tomb.. Until Jesus came, he stopped it and sent the problem out of him, clothed him and replaced the torture of torment with peace. When the city folk saw the man from gaderenes, sitting with Jesus and in his right mind, they were afraid. Mark 5:1-15 (King James Bible) I find this story comforting for my friend and my attitude has certainly changed toward the people who suffer with this condition. I think Understanding is a good start toward the people who suffer with this, everyday.

I agree, though i do try to help people but usually only in stuff i have researched for years and had personal experience in even then i try and make sure i always put in there somewhere to value a doctors opinion over anyone elses but some people just like to try and help and some people are just morons but yes diagnosing someone if your not qualified is a very stupid thing to do its like asking a chef to fix your car somethings bound to go wrong

I agree that diagnosis from the Internet should NEVER be taken seriously and always with a huge grain of salt.......

There is something useful about the fact that people can come here to this site and say this is how I am ..... and this how I think... and feel.... what is wrong with me... and other people can share their own knowledge, experience and information even if it is misguided the Internet provides us all with a voice... a place to meet and share...

I do not think that psychiatrists have many answers at all and on the whole I think this world we live in is full of people who want to take a normal human response and make it into an illness... ie. soooo many people say my grandma died and I am still sad three months later... of my child died and I am still hurting and it is two years later.... and many others jump right in and say Oh you are depressed go to your doctor and gets some medication...

For cryoing out loud when you have suffered a loss you are sad and hurting because you suffered a loss NOT because you have an illness....sadness is not a sickness...and even doctors do not realise this... sadness over a loss is a normal human response..

they really want the 2 points.
But don't you think some of the blame belongs to obviously troubled people who have something wrong with them, whether physical or mental, who come on here to ask what to do when the obviuos answer is, see a doctor?

ex: Hi, I just put my arm through a window and there is blood everywhere. Should I go to the ER or use a big bandaid?

Well said, people on here often diagnose someone without thought for the dangerous consequences such an unqualified opinion can cause.

i do agree with what you are saying, i also think though that if someone is going to be giving out support or suggesting things to questioners it should be those who have suffered it, or reseched it extensively, ive suffered anorexia for many years and it is still not completely understood by therapists, shrinks ect, so who do they think they are answering questions, when they know nothing about it, good rant though, many compliments.

That's funny. I know where you are coming from though. I was misdiagnosed about three times by people who have studied psychiatry. Everytime I got diagnsed with something different I thought my world was going to crush! And it comes to find out all I had was severe depression due to moving and starting over. Who wouldn't be depressed when moving 1300 miles away!!!???!??
