i've been told that it is proper manners to stand when a woman leaves the dinner table, or comes to the dinner table... but i feel like i'd be jumping up and down like an idiot if i did that!? i like to be well mannered in the presence of a girl, especially the one i love, but i dont want to look stupid... standing and sitting... just a random question i had...thanks...

Do what ur accustomed to if she likes u she'll like u no matter what. Do be a gentleman to impress her on special occasions like proposing, anniversaries, when ur out together in front of others at an elite restaurant but not when ur alone, be casual and be u. Chivalry is not dead just suppressed and used on special occasions.

Depends upon your exact location. Are you dining with Royalty? Then yes, by all means do the most proper thing.
Are you out at a pub with the gang? Then heck no, don't even recognize that shes come and gone..ha ha jk.

Just do what feels right. Don't do what doesn't feel right, it will seem hollow.

actually it depends.. if you feel that you want to be polite and give the woman the control over you and let her have you hopping up and down its ok.. she wont think any less of you but in tradition yes men are suppose to do this but well its up to the guy and how he feels and what she expects..
