A horse Farrier is a person who trims and fix hooves of horses so that they horse won't be lame, sore and stiff. They make the horse more balanced. They also put shoes on the hooves. My uncle is a farrier and my friend Raymond is a licenced farrier. I am a farrier too for my horses. It is like someone doing a pedicure on your toes. It is a painless procedure that is beneficial for a healthy horse hooves and for health reasons.

A farrier is a specialist in equine hoof care, including the trimming and balancing of a horse's hoof so as to fit shoes to the horse's foot. A farrier couples a subset of the blacksmith's skills (fabricating, adapting, and adjusting metal shoes) with a subset of veterinary medicine (knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the lower limb) to address the care of the horse's feet.
At one time, farrier and blacksmith were all but synonymous. A farrier's work in colonial America would have included horseshoeing as well as the fabrication and repair of tools, the forging of architectural pieces, etc. Today, farriers usually specialize in horseshoeing, focusing their time and effort on the care of the horse's foot. For this reason farriers and blacksmiths are considered to be in separate, albeit related trades.
A farrier's routine work is primarily hoof trimming and shoeing. In ordinary cases it is important to trim each hoof so that it retains its proper orientation to the ground. If the animal has a heavy work load, works on abrasive footing, needs additional traction, or has pathological changes in the foot, then shoes may be required.
Additional tasks for the farrier include dealing with injured and/or diseased hooves and application of special shoes for racing, training or "cosmetic" purposes. In cases of horses with certain diseases or injuries, special repairative procedures may be needed for the hooves, and then special shoes may need to be constructed and fitted.

A person who makes his or her living shoeing horses, and who has through study and experience learned how to trim hooves and shoe horses to treat orthopaedic and other problems, allowing the horse to perform optimally in whatever discipline he competes in. A farrier is expert in correctional shoeing, patching cracks and repairing breaks in the hoof, assisting vets with cases of founder and navicular. A farrier knows the hoof inside out (literally), is a horseman who understands stride and balance and structure.
A horseshoer is someone who tacks shoes on the feet of horses.
A blacksmith is someone who works forging metal for all utilitarian and decorative purposes, who makes things like fences and gates and other ironmongery items, but nowadays does not usually shoe horses. (Long ago a smith would do both ironmongery and horseshoeing, but nowadays blacksmiths rarely have anything to do with horses.)

well, my dad is a farrier so ill kinda give ya some info on it.
a farrier is a person who tends to horses hooves to put shoes on accordingly or trim them if needed. idk if u know wat shoes are? not to b rude, i just dont know so ill explain. a shoe is a fairly light weight peice of metal shaped to keep a horses foot from getting stone bruises, there are even shoes that help correct standing dispositions, or crossing over of the hooves when they canter(lope) or trot. a basic trimming is just to keep the horses' hooves clean and healthy. tip: some ppl think the soft white dust that comes out of the horses hoove is thrush! it is not thrush...it is sole. that means you have cleaned it out far enough. if u attempt to go deeper you could cause problems. =( if u smell/see thrush, ull know it.
ihope this helps!!!
