Good sleep habits; active during the day, not eating before bedtime, no caffeine after noon, not using your bed for watching tv, reading or lounging around, going to bed at around the same time and waking up at around the same time, limiting naps to one nap no longer than about 90 minutes each day, having a good attitude about falling asleep.
Keep a "worry diary". You write down what is on your mind before you go to bed and then rest assured that it will all still be there in the morning.
You can do this. A good sleep routine and good sleep habits help reduce nightmares.

Here's what I have done; trying take Tynol PM, a hot shower, read a book and/or take a nice long drive.

Nightmare about what? Leave your light on and leave the TV on too. Leave the radio on and only thing about the good things you did in life. Trust me, it helps.

You can make a movie in your head about something you really enjoy!!! I have had to do it before because i was an insomniac and it really helped (and still does) me...
