The soreness should subside w/ in the next few days. You can eat anything you want except for what they tell you not to. Avoid popcorn, as this can get stuck around your gums and cause them to swell making the pain worse. And remember, you will have soreness like this everytime they tighten your braces. Ask your mom or dad for Tylenol or Advil if it is really uncomfortable, this may help w/ the soreness and allow you to eat foods other than liquids. Good luck, and remember you will have a beautiful smile in a couple of years!

i had braces 6 years ago now.
I can still remember the discomfort i had while i had them. After you get used to the sensation of having them on your teeth, you will find that eating etc will feel completely normal...and you will soon forget what it felt like to eat etc. without braces.
Everytime you get a new wire put on, or the braces tightened, you will feel general discomfort which will ease. you can usually take some pain medication such as panadol, which can help ease the pain and discomfort. Unfortuantely as for eating, until you feel no discomfort eating your normal diet, just stick to foods which are easiest and pain-free for you.
Avoid chewing gum, pop-corn, ice cubes etc. as is recommended!
The day that i got my braces removed.....i couldnt stand the sensation of teeth without braces!! I am always getting complements for my smile and beautiful teeth....little do they know that i was a bracer-face for two years!!

I remember my braces, they were really sore for the first day or 2 but then the pain stops and they feel normal. You will soon be able to chew toffee and gum even though the dentists tell you not to! Don't worry, pain will stop and it's definitely worth it.

you fairly get use to it after about 3-4 days, in about per week you do not even observe it. yet... even as they replace the stuff in there in the experience that they tighten them the discomfort will come again for yet another 2-3 days. Take Motrin, that is made only for muscle discomfort. I only lived off of Gatorade and applesauce/jello for those first few days.

it should ease but it shouldnt be that bad ring you orthodontist and tell them you got lots of pain they should see you and chocolate causes decay make sure you brush after eating it as it can stick around the braces causing holes in the middle of your teeth

i had braces on years ago to correct a gap that had formed between my two front teeth, the kind of brace i had was a train track one, because it had a kind of hinge tightening mechanism, i went back to the dentists and they gave me some kind of wax to place over the hard rigid parts so it wouldnt cut my lips, gums etc, try your dentist

After a week or so, it will feel like you were born with them. The next awkward bit is when they take them off. I actually missed mine for a bit!!
