Please can someone help me - my breath stinks. I wash my teeth three times daily - use a specialised mouth wash for bad breath and I STILL smell. I have about ten little lumps at the back of my tongue and constantly suffer from swollen tonsils- could this have anything to do with it? I am miserable over it and feel very paranoid over it - its ruining my life. Ive recently met a new guy and he passed a comment about smelly people in conversation - automatically I assumed it was me - my teeth are very white so its obvious I do look after my teeth - but this smell is ruining my life - PLEASE can someone help me? Im too embarrassed to go the doctor or dentist about this. Oh and Ive posted this here because I dont think many people use the dental health section. Thank you.

Hi! Many people have the same problem but don't care. You said you use a specialized mouthwash---but no name. The best, best is this procedure. I used it on my poodle to make sure cuz he has the worst breath in the world. First, drink a glass of water cuz dryness plays a big part. Especially in the AM, don't go anywhere until you have eaten because keytosis makes an awful smell. If you are on a diet or especially a low carb diet, the body burns fat which makes an awful gas and smell. Actors say models and actresses breath is so bad cuz they are always on a diet. After eating ---dental floss with floss with floride in mint by Johnson and Johnson. Then smell the floss to see where the smell is the worst and repeat. Take a clean, dry washcloth and rub your tongue hard and making sure you get back to where you hit the gag reflex. Look at the cloth and you can see the debris and if you should do again. I always use white washcloths so I can wash in Clorox to disinfect in the wash machine. Now Brush your teeth with your regular floride toothpaste. And then use the best mouthwash called--"Trioral" (Trioral.com) Rinse once in AM and once in PM and swish in your mouth for a full minute. It has zinc and other things that smash the smell! It works on me and I have to have okay breath cuz I'm a singer and speaker so many people are around me all the time and they say I smell fresh when I ask them. If that doesn't help--it means you might have a medical problem and the gases are coming from an irregularity like an ulcer starting or something. Some men have a very impaired sense of smell and they can't smell breath sometime. That would be a good guy to find! lol Good luck!

Don't be ashamed to see a dentist. Alot of people suffer from bad breath. In fact some of them live through their lives not knowing they've got bad breath because people around them dont tell them they do. At least you've identified you have a problem. The next step is to see a dentist. You don't have to be ashamed because your dentist sees tons of people with this same problem. Bad breath may not be your fault. In your case, you mentioned how often you brush your teeth. This could be an internal problem. People with liver problems for example also suffer from bad breath. My best advice to you is to see a dentist, solve this problem, and get it off your chest. Good luck.

aw babes - you sound miserable. You know we all suffer from bad breath at some stage - you sound like you take care of your teeth so it must be heartbreaking to still suffer from this.
Im sure the guy you mention wasnt having a dig at you though - have you tried extra strong mints or a mouth spray before you meet people? I know that will only mask the problem and not solve it- but it might help give you back your confidence a bit. xx

don't worry.. you can get through this. First of all.. bad breathe does not just come from the mouth it comes from your tummy. What is your diet like? if you don't eat good food.. people can smell it through acids n stuff. eat more FRUIT after a meal. Lemons are v good for bad breathe or eating actimel yogurt before a meal. brush your tongue as well. smelly breathe comes from stomach acids.if you have long gaps between meal times... that's what happens. so snack on fruit.. even chocolate helps. or have zingy drink during the day like oasis ot vimto! good luck you'll be ok
