There nothing we can do about Sunnis or Shiites, have been enemies for over 3000 years. Why does Bush think he can change this. Any Government that is place there will turn on USA, because Sunnis & Shiites hate Americans more than each other. My plan is let them have their Civil War move troops to the border of Syria & Iran. That way Iran & Syria cannot invade Iraqi. It will also save Americans Troops lives, they could actually see the enmies. Less movement by Troops and Security Forces. Let Iraqi Forces take care of the interior of Iraqi.
Military have better understanding of rotation of Troops, define amount of Troops securing the border area. Less strain, better moral, because their mission is more profound.

Crzypvt, I agree you, but I think we should have intelligent in the interior, that way the insurgents will have a false sense of security, it would alot easier for airstrikes.

Neat idea.
Won't work.
Border too big. The country would fall to crap because it does not have the ability to defend itself from itself. The Iraqi people need to stand up, until then it will remain as is.

Well, you asked the question, so I hope you're ready for the answer.
I think your idea is stupid.
In the first place, I doubt very seriously if Syria and Iran - nations who both hate us, by the way - would see our positioning of troops on their borders as anything but an act of aggression, possibly an act of war. The protests from the governments would be immediate, and would give Iran the opportunity it needs to take action against us.
In the second place, the Iraqis are not yet capable of handling their own security. If they were, our troops would be out by now.
In the third place, if we just pull out and let them fight it out, we'll be the subject of worldwide scorn for doing that. After all, we're the subject of worldwide scorn now for not doing enough - pulling back and letting them just fight it out would only make it worse.
I don't agree with the war in Iraq, but ideas such as your border on lunacity and idiocy.

Just because Sunnis and Shiites are fighting one another in Iraq doesn't mean they cannot cooperate.
Sunnis and Shiite Muslims have been coexisting together in Africa for hundreds of years.
Think of Protestants and Catholics in Ireland. They were at each others throats until recently and today a lot of progress has been made.
Right now I think of Iraq as a sick person. No matter how much medicine you give them they will not get better unless they have a strong immune system.
The United States needs to keep doing what its doing by strengthening the Iraqi government, military, and police in order to beat the cancerous terror groups making it sick.

We should butt out, and stay out. Before we do leave, however, either nuke them all, or arm Israel as much as they want, and keep them armed, and turn Israel loose on the Arabs. This may sound harsh to some, but you really need to understand their philosophy. The best that can be said for it is that it is brutal. It is an infection that is best wiped out, it has spread far enough. The rest of the world needs to do to Islam what medicine did to Polio.

Wow, it's really interesting what is said, but did maybe anyone thing about the people in Iraq who get killed from those crazy terrorists???If US wouldn't help, you are right it would be probably will go on for the next 3000years!!!
Don't forget as well Military is not mandatory, it's your own choice to join. People join knowing what's going on they do it because they want to help others, make a difference in this crazy lost world, and if it comes to it die for there country.Of course Bush is also seeing other potential in this country as oil. Be honest, what do we know , i don't want to know how many years the war between Iraq and the US is been going on already behind the curtains.

That is a great plan, but we still need to have some troops throughout Iraq and Baghdad to make sure things just get worse, and until Iraq's own military and police become stronger to work on their own.

not a bad plan - here's my thoughts ---- Post a notice for all Iraqi's to lay down their weapons or be shot! collect weapons of those who wish for peace. Appoint the leaders of opposing fractions as leaders of Iraqi equally and responsible for the welfare of the Iraqi nation and people. Once this is completed America Pulls back and assist in rebuilding for all Iraqis... We can win best by not judging there values only their methods of caring for their families.
