For hygiene reasons its better to wipe from front to back especially a female. In the military we were taught 'from front to back' and standing. This is essential when wearing skis and carrying a backpack and rifle.

I am a stander and a leaner, it lifts and separates your cheeks therefore giving you a better wipe angle, and more space to do it, if you do it from top to bottom at this angle of dangle it ensures that any hangers on will go straight into the pan, as someone else has already pointed out it also gives you an excellent view point between your legs to inspect your efforts (that's a man thing).
Why would anyone wipe whilst sitting down, you have to pass your hand through the drippy area to get to the other bit, less room also, plus there is a chance of touching the seat which could have all sorts of germs on it.....
I could tell you all a story about a mate of mine crapping in the woods whilst wearing a one piece suit with a hood...., you guess the rest

Ok that gets a little on the TMI side of things.
You might want to be careful, you might develop a fetish for scat. By any chance did this thought thread come about while you were drunk?
I saw your other question about peeing in the shower.
You kids are going to wind up so weirded out that you will be posting pee and poop questions on yahoo early in the morning.
We wouldn't want that to happen, now would we?

Depends of the time of day. If I get up from sleeping or feel lazy I am a sitter.

I don't know anyone who stands to wipe after a BM, and I was raised to do it while sitting. Besides, when you stand, your cheeks close up and you can't get a proper wipe, so sitting is the most effective way in my opinion.
