Dark matter is a term used in astrophysics to refer to that component of the universe that is unaccounted for, unexplained or inconclusively explained, and whose existence at this time is only inferred.

Yo, I think this is the BEST ANSWER right here, why not hook it up??

Hello,

(ANS) Dark Matter comes into the relm of nuclear physics i.e. particle physics and aslo cosomology such as black holes.

**From an astronomy & cosmology point of view its recently been discovered from very complex mathematics that there was a large amount of matter missing some where in the universe and this missing material couldnt be explained for many years. Recently the missing material has been explained by dark matter, as much as 50% or more of our entire universe is thought to be made up of dark matter. i.e. its ALL around us but we didnt know it.

**As you would expect from its name "dark matter" cannot be seen with conventional telescopes or even radio telescopes which is why it hadnt been discovered before now.

**Dark Matter has this odd quality in that it doesnt reflect light of any kind at all. Obviously you (we) cannot see it by its very nature.

**Dark matter is thought to be associated with quantum theory and anti matter. i.e. its NOT matter in the normal sense that scientists understand it. We still dont fully understand what dark matter really is, but we do know its a vital aspect of what makes up our universe.

we know that mass produced gravity
we know that the galaxys are moving away from each others
the problem is the visible mass of the universe is not enough
to produced gravity to hold the galaxys together initially
so we label the unseen mass as dark matter for equation sake
