Muslims tend to be more "peaceloving" in countries where they're in the minority which is why you will here some say "Hey, that's not what it means", etc.
When they're in the majority, everyone follows the crowd for fear of being killed if they don't. In Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, etc., we wouldn't even be able to have this conversation without fearing for our lives!

I'm not saying that you are wrong, but can't similar "convert or kill the unbelievers" messages be found in most holy books?
"And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males. ... 11 And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of men and of beasts. ... 15 And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive? 16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD. 17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. 18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
Numbers 31"

If you want to understand the Quran, you have to read the entire context and not pick and choose. Its like trying to tell people about a story but reading some Chapters and not others. You wouldn't be able to understand the story. All those passages you quotes are talking about war.
Rules of War*
[2:190] You may fight in the cause of GOD against those who attack you, but do not aggress. GOD does not love the aggressors.
[2:191] You may kill those who wage war against you, and you may evict them whence they evicted you. Oppression is worse than murder. Do not fight them at the Sacred Masjid, unless they attack you therein. If they attack you, you may kill them. This is the just retribution for those disbelievers.
[2:192] If they refrain, then GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
[2:193] You may also fight them to eliminate oppression, and to worship GOD freely. If they refrain, you shall not aggress; aggression is permitted only against the aggressors.
[2:194] During the Sacred Months, aggression may be met by an equivalent response. If they attack you, you may retaliate by inflicting an equitable retribution. You shall observe GOD and know that GOD is with the righteous.
[2:195] You shall spend in the cause of GOD; do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction. You shall be charitable; GOD loves the charitable.

Distortion eh? Tsk, tsk.. how desperate of you, or purely an nescient replica-paste from a mistaken source. very properly, right this is the place to procure incorrect- adult males are no longer "more advantageous" to ladies human beings. they are considered as "protectors" of ladies human beings. Now, i'm no longer asserting women persons are vulnerable, yet i'm asserting a woman's husband is the single to guard his spouse. "the guy of the abode." adult males and girls persons are no longer equivalent- one that announces it is purely fooling himself. Biology shows us this. notwithstanding, they are the two significant for existence- they are companions of one yet another. The Muslim community ought to no longer "make pals" with the "disbelievers" because of the fact they have been at war with them on the early tiers of Islam. The Muslim community replaced into confronted with a unfavorable environment, and their secure practices replaced into very severe priced as a result, the fighters ought to no longer be depended on. Duh. different than that, you're 'allowed' to be pals with people who're no longer in war with you: 60:8 "Allah forbids you no longer, with connection with those that combat you no longer for (your) faith nor stress you out of your properties, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth people who're purely." different verses are purely snipped replica-pastes touching on battles such because of the fact the conflict of Uhud, Trench, and so on. i'm no longer able to proceed on with an 'argument' containing hundreds of incorrect information on Islam. come back once you have real tips and archives on the Qu'ran rather of distortion from anti-Islamist web pages. permit me positioned it purely, in case you have no longer taken a direction on the Qu'ran and have not examine it totally, then you definitely should not be attacking it. the end result? purely making your self look especially ignorant on the Islamic faith. think of next time. Peace~

Someone has wrongly translated it for you. He wants to bug you. Reading is always done in a context. Simply pulling out words and sentences out of context is a blunder. Don't waste your time. If you are interested go for a thorough study. Its a great document revealed for the enlightenment of mankind and not for the destruction of mankind.

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful
He has sent down to thee the Book containing the truth and fulfilling that which precedes it; and He has sent down the Torah and the Gospel before this, as a guidance to the people; and He has sent down the Discrimination.
Surely, nothing in the earth or in the heavens is hidden from Allah.
He it is who fashions you in the wombs as He wills; there is none worthy of worship but He, the Mighty, the Wise.
He it is who has sent down to thee the Book; in it there are verses that are firm and decisive in meaning - they are the basis of the Book - and there are others that are susceptible of different interpretations. But those in whose hearts is perversity pursue such thereof as are susceptible of different interpretations, seeking to cause discord and seeking wrong interpretations of it. And none knows its right interpretation except Allah and those who are firmly grounded in knowledge; they say, 'We believe in it; the whole is from our Lord.' - And none take heed except those gifted with understanding -
'Our Lord, let not our hearts become perverse after Thou hast guided us, and bestow on us mercy from Thyself; surely Thou art the Great Bestower;
'Our Lord, Thou wilt certainly assemble mankind together on the Day about which there is no doubt; surely, Allah never fails in His promise

First and foremost, you have to read the verses in the Qur'an in context with the entire Surah (chapter) for you to understand the message of the Surah.
e.g. Surah 8: Al Anfal
60. And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery, etc.) to threaten the enemy of Allâh and your enemy, and others besides whom, you may not know but whom Allâh does know. And whatever you shall spend in the Cause of Allâh shall be repaid unto you, and you shall not be treated unjustly.
61. BUT IF THEY INCLINE TO PEACE, YOU ALSO INCLINE TO IT, AND (PUT YOUR TRUST) IN ALLAH. VERILY HE IS THE ALL-HEARER, THE ALL-KNOWER.
62. And if they intend to deceive you, then verily, Allâh is All-Sufficient for you. He it is Who has supported you with His Help and with the believers.
