Fantastic lighting, privacy, good ventilation if working with oil based stuff that produces fumes so you don't get loopy...Ability to wash up your supplies right away, paper towels, drop cloths, a spare mat or frame you can hold up to it to see if it looks finished, good artist pencils and kneaded erasure, lots of shelves and boxes to hold supplies.

All you need are the basics...paint, brushes, support (canvas, slate, paper etc.) easel, drop cloth, water access, and a good light source. I have painted in almost every room of my house. I mostly paint in my kitchen because of the natural light from a skylight. I am a professional artist and have sold many paintings. I do not have a space dedicated as a studio which means I need to set up and tear down constantly. A passionate artist will make a way to create even under adverse conditions. All you need are the supplies and desire...Have Fun!

more than one easel, pencils and erasers are good...
north light is preferred, so windows to the north
lots of room (we don't have enough studio space, lots of stuff gets put on wall for reference and dragged in for projects, frames fill the shower and canvas and strecher bars fill the spare bedrooms)
(good thing we have two bathrooms)...
begin making it, and begin working in it, it will develop and come about in your own style and personality over time.

first you need a damp free room with proper lighting, lighting in a studio is xtremely important. u need a rack or palce to keep ur drwaing sheets flat and away from moisture, washbasin, racks to keep ur canvases, a workstation kind of a thing, a clear wall space whre u can hang ur paintings and retrospect, apart from this all sorts of art materials,it will be decided in which medium u r working presntly, but i advise to keep all metrials at hand since u dont know when ur mood will come to work in what medium

Actually I consider my studio a perfect place to work...
I have no carpet...concrete floors, large working areas, vertical as well as horizontal storage racks for canvas as well as other medias. Drawing table....lots of extra supplies on hand...lots of canvas ready....a kiln ...clay and glaze...storage areas for supplies... artograph projector, a sleeping and shower area, reference material, books...supply catalogs for ordering on-line and by phone. TAX ID number so I can buy wholesale as opposed to retail...TALENT..INSPIRATION AND DISCIPLINE!!!!
and a great Agent so you can produce...let them do the hard part....! oh and a great digital camera and an SLR CAMERA AND A COMPUTER SO YOU CANT PHOTOGRAPH all of your work....Also a giclee printing press....that's after you make the bucks.....

Space, a lot of space.
Good light.
No precious carpets.
Easels (donkeys), brushes, paint, media (oil, water, whatever), tables, a coffee machine, a fridge.
What else ? Talent ?
