Oh, yeah! Plenty of time. I just passed through there 2-days after Christmas of 2006 with only 30 minutes between the Syracuse to Nashville flight. Pratically sat around doing some work for sometime and included a bathroom-break. Again, boarding starts almost 15 minutes early, so be ready by at least 20-30 minutes before departure.

When you transfer planes at an airport, you are already inside the terminals so you shouldn't have to go back through security. I've never gone through Newark so I don't know how they are configured but I would imagine you're fine. The one thing you might have to be concerned with is if you are catching a flight in a different terminal. For example, if your flight comes into terminal A but your other flight leaves terminal B you might have to go through a security check point but your checked luggage would automatically be transfered.
