I doubt it very much. The war in Iraq is not being won and is already using up too many troops. The US simply don't have the numbers to send into Iran. The Iranian army is much better supplied, much better armed, and much larger than the Iraqi army ever was. They also have the support of several other countries in the region. The other thing they have is oil. If the US attacked them or indeed Israel, then Iran would simply cut off the oil supply. The US has learned from Iraq that they can't occupy Iran and thus has to deal with Iran in a more strategic manner.

The US military doesn't WANT to do anything...

That is analogous to saying the United States wants to abolish birth control.

The United States Military represents such a broad group of people from all walks of life and opinions.

Furthermore, the military doesn't make policy decisions. The civilian leadership is responsible for any foreign policy action.

You should be asking the questions: Does president Bush want to attack Iran?

OR

Do most congressmen and senators want to attack Iran.

In all reality the US military has very limited control over itself.

We have already moved a carrier battlegroup into the Persian Gulf for that possibility (the group consists of at least 15 ships and submarines).

Iran, in case you don't remember, has fallen out of favor with the UN Security Council for refusing to halt it's nuclear program and allow inspections.

I don't know if the government wants to bomb or not, but I sure as heck do, and a lot of other citizens do, as well. It will be interesting to see how Democrats react to this. In our run up to the invasion, a lot of them were criticizing Bush for NOT attacking Iran, the country they said was the real problem!

Some Americans believe that the military build-up in Iraq is a preparation for the attack in Iran. They just have to cross the border.

There's a big rumor that we are ALREADY at war with Iran & Syria:

"Washington intelligence, military and foreign policy circles are abuzz today with speculation that the President, yesterday or in recent days, sent a secret Executive Order to the Secretary of Defense and to the Director of the CIA to launch military operations against Syria and Iran.

The President may have started a new secret, informal war against Syria and Iran without the consent of Congress or any broad discussion with the country."

No the USA does not want to attack Iran, But Iran is not being a good neighbor.
Iran is supporting too many radical Militant groups besides the Nuke stuff.
If Iran wants peace there will be peace, but that is not what Iran's leaders are talking about, are they?

I am answering even though I am not in the military. I believe that the US is provoking Iran and will soon invade them. We did it to Afghanistan, and now Iraq. I will tell you, just watch the current events real closely.

There are plenty of countries that the U.S. WANTS to attack, but if it would ever come to fruition is another story. I know this for a fact-Iran would be a much tougher fight than Iraq.

I am from Turkey and I'll tell you what.First of all your army is based on the idea that Americans big oil companies should own all the oil across the world at any expense,no matter how many people die and no matter how many people are tortured severely in concentration camps like Guantonomo. That is, the American army is the army of big companies not American people. Now that they have gained Iraq's petrol( at the expense of so many deaths and tears) it is sure Iran's turn to pay for having petrol.
