Don't give up on the sleep medication. There are so many sleep meds out there on the market you can find one that won't interfer with what you are already taking. I don't think you doctor is very caring. You'll have to push for what you need. Other than that, you can try a few simple things. Don't go on the computer or watch TV at least an hour before bedtime. Take a long soothing warm bath with only candle light, while bathing close your eyes and try to relax or watch the flames from the candles and try to meditate. Then climb into bed and read a boring book such as chemistry, the Bible or anything else you find. And watch your sugar and caffeine intake, make sure you limit these. I have chronic insomnia too, it's to the point I can't work anymore. So I do hope this works for you. For me, only medication will work, and a lot of it. Good luck!

well if you have prescriptions already that tells me youve spoken to some type of profesional about this, i'm sure they told you about the chemicals being released and not released in your brain. but, in the usa we like to treat prtoblems, rather than solving them. there is an underlining route to this problem... what you have to do is find it. almost always there is something your body is missing, this causes us to develope symptons. try making small changes to your diet, you can start by looking at your present diet and seeing whats missing. also try exercising if you have time, but nut before bed as for some this would wake them up more, but during the day it will add up for night time. also remember to take your sleep meds only when needed, you may be above the dose or just resistant to it. and if havent tried natural Melatonin yet, try it. its over the counter and natural, it doesnt work for everyone but it may work for you. now, due to this re-occuring every two weeks it could be chronic, and when its chronic youre n luckbecause sleep tests and EEG exams will detect your brain waves and patterns. which can easilly be detected. also there could be a stressor causing this matter, and dont forget even good stress is still stress. your body and everyone elses bodies react differently to stress. taking all this info in, listen to some more anwsers and then try them all...well as long as they are sane. then see what works for you, but i'm willing to bet there is a natural cause for this imbalance, thus meaning there is a natural answer. hang in there.

Ah good question!
Get a hobby! Seriously! Learn to bead, or sew, or paint or draw, or learn photography. Spend your time developing your skills and then sell your work!
A little secret. Beading can be very distracting and teadious work. It is rather tiring too. After a few hours of working with tiny beads and bending the metal, you grow slightly weary and maybe, just maybe, you might be able to fall asleep.
I love to bead! There are beading stores in almost every city. Find one, (even Wal-mart) Pick up a basic beading book (even at Wal-Mart) and start a hobby that will lead to maybe you being a big seller on eBay.
Also, eating carbs at night (like a few cookies with a little milk) will cause your blood sugars to climb, then rapidly decline, leaving you rather tired. Try that and see if that helps any.
Best wishes! God bless!

I sit around and surf the web, watch TV or listen to music. I have friends in other parts of the world and we chat via IM.
If you're asking what to do to help you sleep, I recommend making your bedroom as dark as is possible. (Room darkening shades, blackout curtains.) Take the TV out of your room, make the room only for sleeping. (And sex, if you have a partner.) Cut out caffeine. Don't do any strenuous exercise late in the day. Look into relaxation techniques (there are scores of websites) and try them to see if any work for you.
And don't stress about sleep, because that's a perfect recipe for not getting sleep.

I answer questions on yahoo and think about sex and maybe eat some hard boiled eggs with sardines. Acutully i try to figure out why in the hell do people dress funny and why do i only see one person in a porche all the dam time think about it you never see 2 just one. i think its because the ego is so big nobody can fit in the passenger seat. What do you think?? I think of money sometimes like pulling the best robbery and living in Costa Rica learning to speak spanish and making a fool out of myself trying to speak to the population. But i dont do it i just think about it and keep answering these crazy questions
