you could try to go to a state college (or smaller college) then gather what you need to bring up your grade point average... then try to get into a better college

If you are in a Texas Charter school, there is usually a reason (sports? Illness? academic challenge? ). I cannot think that if you have good grades, passed the TAKS, and have good SAT and/or ACT scores that you couldn't make it into a college. I honestly don't think that colleges look at your attendance record.

Extra curricular activities are always helpful in getting admitted to a competitive college.

I would recommend that you might want to look at some NAIA or Division III schools - smaller colleges that are often faith based (but not necessarily ramming it down your throat). There are some awesome ones in Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma and the tuition isn't as bad as you would think.

Yes if you are going to try to enroll in a college within a year you should be looking right now. If you do not have a college admissions counselor in your charter school, ask if you can speak with one in the high school nearest your home.

People who do volunteering on a regular basis and get letters of recommendation when they apply to college from the places they did volunteering are looked upon favorably.

Attendance does count, because they look at that to see how committed a student you'll be. If you have a lot of absenses not verified as you being home sick and poor grades, it will decrease our chances.

If you know the career you want to go into, find during your senior year someone in that career that will allow you at least once a week throughout the school year to shadow them on their job and learn from them. Having someone like that recommend you will go a long ways.

Make sure you get better grades during your senior year and go to school unless you are truly sick, don't slough.

Also, contacting schools now, a year before you go to the college or University also shows them your interested. If you need financial help, make sure to get with the financial offices of the places you'd like to attend. See what help they can offer you. Find out more about the school, what supportive services they offer to Freshmen.

GOOD LUCK

Your school should have a guidance counselor to explain this stuff to you. At my kids high school they had a meeting every month for kids and parents, starting when the kids were in Sophomore year. Each month they told you what you were supposed to be doing to get ready for college apps.;

If your school doesnt have that, then go to your local library and ask the librarian to help you find a book about how to get ready for college. There are lots of good books about this and the librarian will be happy to help you.

This is not easy to do if you have no one at school to help you and your folks do not know how to do it. But the library can help. You need to work on this, because it is your future.

im just responding to an answer i saw you post on this guys question about how unappealing black women are...after reading the first couple sentences of your ignorant response i skipped to the bottom. im black and i think you sound really stupid, ignorant, and presumptuous to assume most black women are unintelligent based on some stupid statistic. not graduating college doesnt necessarily mean you're stupid and not worth talking to. im going to let you rack your small feeble mind for other circumstances that would lead to this. anyway im 17 and i date outside my race all the time and its people like you that disgust me. get educated fast before you infect others with your stupidity.
