I know there are other answers out there, but I thought i'd give more specific details about my situation. At first I had a really sore throat that hurt when I swallowed. This was about a day and a half. Now, I just have an annoying itchy dry throat that makes me cough. No fever, no cold, and it doesnt feel sore. It's been about 5 days now. I've been taking vitamins, airborne, some chinese herbal stuff, drinking green tea, lots of water, sucking on cough drops, and i have a humidifier in my room. I don't have allergies, and this has never happened to me before (meaning, it doesn't happen every winter) Is there anything else I could do to get rid of this annoying cough?!

Eat the coughdrop WHILE drinking the tea. It helps a lot more than doing either one alone. Also, you are just going to have to wait it out another 5 to 7 days until it has run its course.

Could be that you are sleeping in a cold area and the cold air you inhale is causing you to have an itchy throat. Sleep in a warm environment and take some cough drops. If all else fails, rub some vapor rub on your chest and sleep like that.

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection . Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience.
