We want to do a very low budgeted (like $30-40) event for a youth centre based on the Chinese New Year theme but we need event ideas.

So far, we got:

- Badminton on half of our gymnasium
- Chinese food for a concession
- Put candy in those red envelopes (instead of money) and give them out as prizes

We have a gymnasium, stage and a hang out area: if that helps. It's geared to 12 - 16 year olds.

The year of the Pig, if you wish: we also need help with a name.

One may find that modern urbanized Chinese culture just as bland as any culture... and since the inventino of the Karaoke machine by the Japanese, Chinese youth revel in the joys and pleasures of singing Karaoke. Just make sure you have some Joey Yung songs.

when I was a kid (who grew up in the States) I always looked forward to Chinese new years because of fire crackers.. now that was fun!

How about make some dragons and teach the kids how to use them. or buy some maybe. maybe some kind of program with singing and dancing. what you're doing sounds great already.
