My husband is a tattoo artist and he tells people that is completely normal. Wash clean with fingertips and warm soapy water.Preferably antibacterial soap. then pat dry with a paper towel and put a thin layer of ointment, like a+d or aquaphor by eucerin 3-4 times a day. Make sure there is no excess ointment by blotting with a paper towel. After 4-5 days tattoo will start peeling or feel rough, then stop with ointment then use unscented, undied lotion.

um--no you dont want to cover it with plastic.

I got my tattoo done in 3 stages-- the plastic wrap was only to be on for 2 hours after it was done.
your tattoo needs air to heal-covering it in plastic does not let air in or the moisture escape--causing more scabbing and possibly scarring.

just use vitamin A and D ointment 3x a day or when/if it feels dry.
it is going to ooze a bit & scab over naturally--but that should only last a few days.

did the tattoo artist give you any other instructions?
the oozing is definately normal,
be sure when you shower--to gently clean the area, do not rub it (just pat it when washing) and DO NOT use hot water or let hot water touch it.
I followed my tattoo guys instructions to a T - had no fading & had very little or no scabbing. Be sure to use A & D ointment though-not body/skin moisturizer-you can get the cheapy version at the dollar store.

It's going to ooze for the next couple days. I use A & D ointment. Everyone has their own opinion on what to use. You can also use this stuff called Tattoo Goo. You can find it at a tattoo ink supply store. If the oozing persists with pain and burning, you should see a doctor. My girlfriend and I got tattoos a few weeks ago by the same artist and our arms were oozing which was followed by bumps and blisters. We both got infections from the flux on the needles. However her case was worse than mine. The rash broke out on all her limbs and neck. This was almost 3 weeks ago and my friend is STILL on antibiotics from it. Be careful and if anything, it doesn't hurt to have your doctor look at it. Good luck.

Buy a tube of bacitracin and lather your tattoo. Next wrap it with saran wrap for the night. Apply Bacitracin for 3-5 days, and discontinue using the saran wrap after 2 days. after 3-5 days switch to lotion. "DO NOT WASH OR SCRUB YOUR TATTOO"

That is completely normal. Your body is forming a scab.

treat it like a wound. they just did about a zillion little puncture wounds to you to do the tattoo.

its gonna scab over......let nature take its course. don't pick the scab either. once the scab comes off the tat will be cool.
