Not everyone has depression for all of their lifes. Some may but there is just a depression that you may need to work through, and then it is done with. The only one that can tell you if you are going to be depressed all of your life is the one that told you you were depressed and gave you the medication for it. So go and see him or her , and if you want another opinion then go to another doctor, and see what they think.

From My own exspireince with Depression and the medication!
I had fought with Depression for about 2 years from 1999 thru about 2001. I was placed on Prozac! I do know, you can sooner or later build up a tolorance level to some of these types of drugs. I would not simply just take your self off of them! Talk to a Doctor. I was in counseling and slowly was placed off the medication.
As far as you asking to see if Depression will never come back! I doubt if anyone could gaurantee you that it will never happen. It took about 3 years of counseling after I was completely off the meds to handle living free from depression. Its a struggle and I hope you are in some type of counseling treatment. If your not! Then as time goes on by you'll feel better as long as you take those pills but as soon as you get it all out of your system. you'll become depressed more so! It just excalades and becomes a huge circle and I got too the point I broke down and wanted it all too end. Thank God, I found a counseling serves!
I wish you the best! Depression is a very Dark and hard fought battle every day of your life. Please seek a counselor...

Depression and anxiety can be life long. You say you are better now, are you in therapy? The best bet to cure your depression is medication and therapy, together. It is possible for you to beat this issue and have it not return, as long as you live by what you have learned in therapy and try not to repeat the same behaviors that may have caused your depression. DO NOT STOP TAKING YOUR MEDS WITHOUT TELLING YOUR DR. YOU WILL GET ILL. Good luck to you!

I have that same thing, anxiety and depression. I am on meds and have been for a few months as well. It is my understanding that when doctors think that it is time for us to try coming off them, it will be slow because we have built a dependency on the chemicals for our brains to regulate what makes us feel anxious and depressed. You may require medication to continue keeping the chemicals in your brain regulated, because some people cannot do it for themselves- its a biological thing. Consult your doctor about the fact that you feel you are ready to try downgrading your dosages and see how that makes you feel. You may or may not be ready to come off the medication, only your doctor and you can find that out. Good luck!

My wife once suffered from this several years ago. We went to doctors and psychiatrist and even psychics, who told her she was being spelled through black magic. The psychiatrists recommended some relaxation techniques, and later found out that the anxiety stemmed from her overly high ambitions. It was deep below her consciousness but was real. So you'd better try some digging of your hidden emotion or desires; they may cause this illness. Good luck!

I believe that it is possible that you can get to the "root" of your depression and eliminate it.... the best method I have found for doing that is the Emotional Freedom Technique, which is easy to learn and easy to apply. Read about it and download the free "Getting Started" package at http://tinyurl.com/yh5zhu

All the best to you in 2007!
