My husband is deployed in afghanistan and my family (myself... 6 month old... and three year old) want to put a really special care package together to send to him. We already know to send pictures, and food and stuff, but I was wondering if there is anything that would be really special we could put in there? Any troops recive anything fun that put a smile on your face? Any help would be great. Thanks!

A small "lock" of your hair--he'll carry it next to his heart
A very "girlie" hankie with a dab of your own special perfume on it
A valentine (it will be just in time) with the kids "signatures" on it !!
(use the youngest's foot or handprint as the signature and let the three yr old do whatever they feel )
If you know the expected time of his return---send a 2007 calendar with that particular month or day decorated with special stuff (glitter---ribbons--little hearts ect !!!)
Hope this can be used as at least an addition to your pack in some way---- And, God bless YOU FOLKS for YOU are making unbelievable sacrifices here too ---and THAT all too often gets overlooked--- So thank YOU for your part in all this--- We love you !!!

Something the kids made in school, friends of mine love getting stuff like that.
Newspaper and magazine clippings of random stuff that wouldn't normally make the news over there.
CDs of music that you put together, whether it be old stuff that the two of you like or some new stuff you think he might like or a mix of both.
Anything he would enjoy back home, try and send stuff that's realted and it'll make him smile.

I'm not sure what equipment your husband has access to, but an audio or video recording of you and the kids would be nice. What about foot or handprints of the kids so he can see how much they've grown? Hope he enjoys your package.

Maybe you can ask your 3 year old to write a letter to his dad or make a card. Am sure that would make his day.

Good Luck.
