Did satan "plant" this to fool us?
David L. Brill/Brill AtlantaA 160,000-year-old skull found in Ethiopia is the oldest known modern human fossil. Because the skull is slightly larger than those of modern-day humans, scientists have classified it as a subspecies -- Homo sapiens idaltu. © 2000

The bones were uncovered in 1997, but it took six years to clean the pieces, glue them together and analyze their features. Because the fossils were in volcanic sediment, they could be reliably dated based on radioisotopes in the soil. White's team puts their age at 160,000 years. That beats the previous record for a human fossil by tens of thousands of years.

It's a difficult one this, isn't it? Most religions seem to have a creation myth--even science has the big bang--so there seems to be some sort of collective understanding that there is a cycle of creation and destruction (and eventual recreation, regeneration, ressurection, re-birth, etc.) within the whole of the universe. Maybe, there is an eternal cycle of birth, old age, sickness and death, which seems to be mirrored all around us in the lives of human beings, the rise and fall of civilisations; species; even stars have a life-cycle of birth, death, re-birth. So why not the entire universe? I think this is what is meant by eternity, an eternal life, of birth and death. This view, in various guises in all religions, seems to be woven into our understanding of life. From the view point of Buddhism, for example, the universe is it's own creator and we are the manifestations of the universe, which is why we follow the same cycle of birth, death, re-birth.

The earth was created together with the heavens in the beginning (Gen 1:1). The 6,000 years starting from Gen 1:2 refer to the restoration of the earth and creation of the Adamic race and the new living things. There could be other forms of life on earth before 6,000 years for in Gen 1:2 the earth became without form and void owing to some form of destruction which the Bible does not provide any details.

You come up with some good questions!
the whole time frame thing if you go by Genesis will throw you off especially if someone thinks that our days are the same as God's
I believe Paul said that His years is as our thousands of years. Then you have to take into account how long a thousand years seemed to Paul. In this case time is and is not relative ( I am sleepy and don't know if I make sense so please bare with me)
in short God created everything the same way He deals with me today...in HIS time.
sweet find...keep searching and it shall be known unto you...
good night

The great leap forward(Adam??) accured in europe 30000 years ago.
Moses wrote the start of the old testiment including genises.A lot of time passed between the great leap forward and Moses.
What was Moses?A genius?
Moses wrote things down as God explained them to him.
Whats more it was the right option to give moses a story instead of some stupid natural science lesson.

Creation of man is about 6000 ys. . .
But the creation of earth is not.
Remember, before the creation of sun, how do one count one day?
It was said 6 days for easy understanding.
When God shows moses, how can poor moses really describe the entire creation, where it was done by stages? So he called it days.
There are some other theory, which is rather technical and theological to discussed here. Like Gab Theory, Pre-Human Theory, Fall of Satan etc. . .
If you are interested, u may email me for discussion

That's odd, I just read something about a full skeleton that was dated 4.2 million years ago. It walked on 2 feet, like we do. And it was found in the southern region of Africa, and related to those who were found in Australia.

Religious people have trouble believing the dating methods are accurate. Given that science has yet to explain hickups or fully solve the mystery of what makes black heads black, its ability to predict event hundreds of thousands of years age seems suspect.
