The hair itself is not necessarily different: all hair whether black or white is chemically made up ofthe same substance called keratin. It's the size and angle of the hair and follicle that causes the different textures.

Black hair follicles are oval and wide which makes for a denser, thicker band of keratin (strand). Because of this, the strand grows slower and tends to curl on its way out from the follicle. The thickness means that it takes more oil to keep the strand protected, healthy, hydrated, and "shiny." In fact, the hair strand is so dense and thick that it requires additional oils be applied regularly to the hair itself in order to maintain it. If not, the hair gets that characteristic "dusty and dry" look that black people hate.

White hair follicles are round and small which makes for a much thinner band of keratin. Because of this, the strand grows much faster and shoots straight out of the follicle. The thinness means it takes much less oil to keep the strand protected, healthy, hydrated, and "shiny." In fact, the hair follicle is so thin that it requires much less oil to maintain. If not washed for several days, the natural oil produced by the body can weigh it down giving it that "dirty and greasy" look that white people hate.

Black hair comes in all the colors that white hair comes in - including Black, Brown, Red. I assume that you are referring to blond hair and if you notice, there are some black people born with blond hair - they are called Albinos. That means there was a genetic mutation that stripped them of color (some Albinos will even have blue eyes). A lot of research suggests that Blond is a genetic mutation atributed to Albinism (even in whites) and it's just that over time we have come to see that as normal in some cultures and not in others (that's controversial, though) as white blonds don't have some of the other obvious chracteristics of albinos. This suggests that they may well have adapted to their environment in order to survive and insure the viability and reproduction of "the blond." Blond is a rarity in ALL people of colour (Blacks/Africans, Latinos (not Spanish who are technically white), Asians, Native Americans, Indians, etc).

Interesting notes:

Black hair is about 5-10 times thicker than white hair. It also has different thicknesses within a strand making hairstyles easier to hold (hence, no hairspray needed to make our styles last all night!).

Black hair is versatile! We can wear it nappy for the au natural look in the morning or wear it bone straight and glam that same night.

Black hair has a high moisture content and can withstand a LOT of heat - that's why we can press it with a hot comb (a metal comb places on an open flame) and not worry about it burning up!!

When black people get a "perm" it's to straighten their hair, when white people get a "perm" it's to curl their hair!

Black people don't like to get their hair wet in the rain or the pool because water makes black hair "revert" to its natural state - sometimes referred to as "nappy". This means the hair will shrink and get puffy or curly. When white hair gets wet it goes completely flat because the water weighs more than the hair.

Hope this helped answer your question!! *smile*

Wrong Black hair is the easiest to manage and is the most pleasant to the sight if left in its Natural state. It has no need for daily Moisturizing nor daily washing. Black Women with Natural hair especially dreads or braids have the most beautiful and fullest hair. The problem occurs when black women attempt to wear their hair in a Albion European style and perm it. Then your statement becomes true but if left Natural in a few years she will have most European women wishing they had hair like hers. Finally Black people grow hair and Albion Europeans grow animal like fur sort of like a troglodyte niger monkey which is a scientific name for chimpanzee, ancestor to the Neanderthal Man which is the Father of the European race. This is what separates the chemical make up of a Asiatic African (Black person) from a Albion European (white person). So basically Albion Europeans are the product of ancient scientist (Black women) mating with Chimpanzee's, this is why they have animal like fur (straight hair). Black people's hair if not managed and grown wild will form Beautiful locks on their own.

The top poster is wrong: African American hair is thinner, less dense and lacks keratin. Here's the difference.
Ethnic differences in hair fiber
Each individual is unique and hair production rate, size, and shape differs for everyone, but in general there are some differences in the nature of hair fiber for people of different ethnic backgrounds.
Asian hair is on average the thickest and most coarse hair compared to Caucasian and African American hair. It is almost always straight and circular in cross The density of hair follicles in African Americans is also somewhat lower than for Caucasians on average. At the lowest end of the spectrum the density of Asian may be just 90,000 scalp follicles and rarely gets above 120,000 scalp follicles. Caucasian hair can be quite variable in its presentation with straight, wavy or curly hair. Red haired people have the least dense scalp hair growth of Caucasians, blonds the most dense and brown haired people somewhere in the middle.

Black people do not have only one color hair. It is a different texture though, from every other different race.

I prefer hair that will is shoulder length or longer, And also since that men who like ladies are more often then not right, they like long hair because this looks more feminine, as most men have short hair.

Jet black hair. I have really dark brown hair and I consider dark hair looks better. I don't really like blonde hair.
