He's just being friendly and possibly isn't even listening fully to your replies. It's just social small talk and you're expected to ask him about his weekend.
Just on that, I can't see any evidence that he's interested in you, although he may well be. You will have to look out for body language signals. If you think his questioning is excessive, next time ask him "Why do you want to know?"

Assessing the situation, doing the groundwork and getting to know you and what you enjoy doing in anticipation of asking you out. Or, he simply likes you as a friend and is showing an interest out of courtesy.

maybe he likes u or just wants to talk to u nobody knows but him so its best if u just asking politely why he is so interested in what u did on weekend
