My 2 month old beagle ate a Syberian Huskys dinner (not all of it) but probably 4 times what he normally gets for dinner. I am worried sick! The vet is not answering his phone and I need to wait till tommorrow morning to take him. The puppy seems to be doing fine, he's just sleeping a lot but he is gagging, and breathing quite fast every so often like trying to vomit, plus his belly got HUGE. Please help, I love my puppy and I want to know WHAT TO DO and if he's going to be okay

I remember when we got out 8 week old puppy from the pound, she was skinny and looked half starved to death, we fed her and she wolfed it down. un beknown to me my son felt sorry for her and gave her a huge serving of puppy food and she waddled out in front of us with a tummy 10 times her size (ok I exagerated but it was huge) I was mortified as she had just been spayed that day (Yes 8 weeks is young but thats what they do here in Aus when you get a pound pup) Anyway she slept and gagged too just like you stated in your post.. Then she threw up (Then she tried to eat that too!!!) Her poop was like slop ... But she was fine..

If the puppy was chewing on a cord, a shock could easily charge through the body and stop the heart. Reflexes only work on small shocks, like a static charge, for instance. A high current shock would basically paralyze you. This is why if anyone is ever being electrocuted, you can't touch them. You have to either cut off the source or break their connection with something non conductive. You touching the cord was much less of a shock compared to your puppy touching it.

Ok. calm down. its going to be ok i promise.. I had a 6 wk old puppy who did the same thing his stomach was 5 times bigger than normal.... no its not a healthy thing for the pupy to eat so much... but he will be ok. what u need to do is sit him on ur lap and slowly rub ur hand on the bottom part of his neck up and down like u would if u were trying to help him swallow something..... then massage his tummy a little.... the thing that will actually work best is if u try to loosen his stooles... it may sound gross but use 2 fingers and slowly rub ur fingers in a circilar position around his rectum.... it helped my puppy so much.. hope it helps..

P.S... there is not that much that the vet can do except what i have just offered.

I've never heard of a puppy dying from overeating. If he really did eat more than his stomach can handle he will just throw it up. Just make sure he has access to fresh water and be prepared to clean up vomit. I would keep a close eye on him and call the vet in the morning just to be safe.

He needs to vomit and then he will be fine - the poor thing will have a MASSIVE tummy ache!
You could take him to an afterhours emergency vet and they will give him stuff to make him vomit (if you ring them they may give you the recipe to make salt paste which induces vomiting - I can't remember the receipe off hand).
I would say if he can vomit tonight and appears normal tomorrow then he will be fine. If he is still sick in the morning call the vet as he could get complictions such as pancreatitis depending on what the food was he ate.
Try and get hold of an emergency vet and ask for salt paste recipe!!

Your puppy will be fine. That is what puppies do.... they overeat. A puppy will typically eat until they just can't eat anymore. Everything that you explained is a normal process for a puppy who has eaten too much. Don't worry though, they do learn from their mistakes.

I think your pup will be fine. hes sleeping as he has a nice full belly when he wakes make sure you put him outside as he will have a huge poo, dont feed him any more today just water not milk as that will fill him again. Remember what goes in generally comes out

His belly got huge and he got happy -- til the belly ache started.

Don't worry. He will barf up anything that might hurt him. If he got the kind of belly ache you are describing, he is not likely to pull that stunt again for a while, if ever.

Good luck.

The only risk is bloat which can be fatal. Keep him calm so that it can easily pass and read this so you can notice signs of bloat if an emergency vet is needed.
