Kennel cough is not usually fatal however it is the things that kennel cough can bring to the problem such as pneumonia,Bronchitis, and other complications.Small dogs seem to be more susceptible to the untoward effect that kennel cough can cause. If I were you I would see a vet asap he will probally want to put him on antibiotics and maybe a cough medication to loosen secretion and mucosa. No cure for kennel cough but prevention of the complications. The cough will finally wear its self out right before you have worried yourself to death.Try not to worry just see the vet and tell him his symptoms. Good Luck!!!!!!Oh yea You can also run a home vaporizer too and that seems to help.Hope she gets better soon.

While kennel cough itself is not fatal, kennel cough added to any other illness CAN be fatal, due to the kennel cough weakening the dog's system. Thus the vaccination for Bordetella.

See if you can manage to squeeze into your vet's schedule on a semi-emergency basis. If your own vet can't see you, call around and try to find a spot at some other vet. If it is JUST kennel cough, your pup will be fine...but if there is something else wrong with him...

You need to go and get medication for the dog. Kennel cough is very common in kennels, it is an airborne virus, so if one dog had it there, chances are, a lot of them now do as well. (you may want to call the kennel and tell them). In any case, once you start taking the dog for routine vaccinations, a kennel cough shot will be given to your dog annually, to prevent this. You do need to take him/her tho to the vet to be treated, kindof like our bronchitis, could potentially turn into something worse.

Kennel cough (Bordetella) is not fatal so don't panic.
Most animals suffering from Kennel cough clear up by themselves. In some cases antibiotics and a cough suppressent are required.
You can help him in the mean time by running hot water in shower creating steam and have him in bathroom to inhale the steam - this will help break up the mucous.
Don't over excercise him and he should be fine once the antibiotics kick in!!!!!!!!!

No kennel cough is highly treatable. Being you just got him from a shelter a vet exam wouldn't do any harm and would be a good idea to clear up any other unseen health issues.
Go to the vet and they can give you some antibiotics

make sure you take him to the vet! i got my dog from the shelter also but they gave her shots before they released her to me, weird they didn't when you got yours. the doctor can be able to give your dog shots for it and meds for the dog. make sure you try to get to vet asap!
