I have to write a 2-3 page report on anything dealing with crime scene investigation. I can't think of any good ideas, possibly cause its 2am. I was wondering if anyone had any good creative and possibly controversial ideas for my paper. He has 150 students turning in this paper, so I would like to stand out, plus i'd love to learn about something neat. ALL ideas welcome. Again, it just has to have something to do with crime scene investigation.

i had to write a report last year and i chose chemical castration for sexual preditors... you find a victim who was raped and killed.. dna tracks the guy down as his dna is in the system due to hes a repetative sexual preditor.. you find him and he is only sentenced to 10 yrs and that doesnt settle well with you.. you start a petition for chemical castration for all sexual preditors.... the rest is about your petition for a new law and the details of chemical castration.... mine was different than this because i didnt have to do csi style, but it earned me a A because its such a bold subject... hope this helps

You could do it on the crime scene alterations like how do the investigators know when their crime scene was altered. For instance when someone is killed, the body reacts in different ways like if that person was killed and then hit the floor on his back the blood of the body goes to the bottom so if you see the corpse you'll find a purple spot on the back and on the back side of the legs and arms etc this spot is permanent if the body isn't moved in a very short period of time so if someone moves the corpse and for example places it in a sitting down position claiming that the person died doing something the investigators could know that the scene is being altered since the spot on the back of the corpse will let them know the corpse was moved from the original position. GOOD LUCK!

you go to investigate a crime, its a jane doe, the murder weapons are a chain saw, a hammer, and a wood chipper. it seems that she got hit in the head with the hammer while sleeping, then got cut up with a chain saw, and stuck into a freezer to harden the body, the next day, the murderer rented a wood chipper, and stuck her thru and shot the remains into a flowing river, how do you find evidence that this actually happened? the bar code was scratched from the chipper, and never returned, and never found, the chainsaw was taken apart and discarded, and the hammer was not found either. they comb the bottom of the river and dont find anything for a long time, then start coming up with tooth crowns, and a ring that belonged to her. make it into a story, and there you go... this is a true event by the way

Well...

You could write on crime scene investigation across federal states, i.e. what restrictions, who has jurisdiction etc. or you could write about csi in Canada, or another country and then compare it to the us way of doing things....
If both these ideas are bad write about what is needed froma a person to become a csi, a sharp eye and good memory are nnot enough...what else?

Do it on attempting to determine the difference between suicide and death by autoerotic asphixiation, that is a pretty controversial subject and gets people's attention. There are telltale ways to tell when first walking onto a crime scene whether it was a suicide by hanging or an accidental death by autoeroticism. We covered that in my evidence collection class and despite being a bit morbid and strange it was pretty interesting stuff.

I would be interested in the psychological effects of doing crime scene investigation. It would be interesting to know if doing that job changes people and in what ways.

i would say you should go at it from the biological and medical side of CSI. This seems to be the most advanced and mind blowing part that a single piece of a human hair can tye someone to a murder. That there are different types of blood drops, and all the cool machines and stuff they can use.

Do it on the guy that murdered his girlfriend while he was sleepwalking. The defense proved that he thought was gutting a fish when he was gutting his g/f.

He ended up getting aquitted from it.
