I guess that would have to be the only thing, eh? Some alien beings with greater technology than ours with the intent of harvesting us or something...yeah, I guess I'd give the order to destroy the world and take as many of those things with us.
It couldn't be from our own society because, in my opinion, it wouldn't make sense. What could possibly happen for humans to decide to destroy the world from a terrestrial "happening"? Know what I mean?

If Steve Irwin was alive he'd just grab them by the tail and sling 'em mate! Let us remember Steve when they decide to land, and stop hiding in our clouds, and running away from us.
There is a reason they developed fast and elusive spacecraft, it's because they are frail physically, and they know we will bully them, even though they fudged our gene pool and had part in our creation. Their most famous President cited" We have created a Frankenstein, Only knowledge will save us." WRONG! A lot of us have figured out the real creation story, and they know how strong we have become. The problem they didn't figure was how fast we would evolve, since their mass forces can only come around every 3600 years, they didn't forsee our fast rise to knowledge-too bad.

Having a comet or other object in space throw off our orbit so it slowly grows closer to the sun and we all slowly die from heat basically being cooked to death.
