It's because those guys are shallow and you're better off not around them.

Girls that are fat typically give away their beautiness. Guys enjoy dating a girl that has almost perfect beauty, mainly coming from how fat (thick) she is. A female that is overweight is typically hard to go out with, because others will mock you for going out with a girl like that. It indeed is an image issue. A man's girl has to be perfect, good looking, and has a great body figure. However it also depends on the guy. If the guy, himself, is fat then it wouldn't be a problem to date an overweight woman. They would both make a perfect match. But a skinny man and an overweight woman is just out of there. It also depends on one's personality. I've seen skinny people go out with overweight ladies. After all everyone's taste is different.

I do not openly make fun of any overweight person. Behind their back or not. I just don't. Though I will tell you that the reason I don't date fat women is because I think they're ugly. I have a discrimination in my head about them because I feel like if they cared about their appearance they would work for loosing weight. If I detect an unhappiness in their self-esteem and laziness along with that. I refuse to date them. I have dated a "wider" woman before. In fact, it ended about a year ago. She was gorgeous. She really was. In fact she was and is the most beautiful woman I've seen. It's not BECAUSE she was larger (to be fair she wasn't very large at all) but it's because she exercised and kept fit. She was a fit person. She was just built a different way than most girls. And that's ok. She was, in my opinion, my first love.
It's not usually the look of slightly overweight girls... it's their self-esteem.
Of course, to be realistic, at a certain level it really is appearance. I can't fully blame it on laziness either. It also has to do with the family setting and heritage. Though, many people have beaten those before. I believe anything is possible in the realm of dating and love. If you are happy with yourself more people will be happy with you. I promise.

Making fun of someone is always inappropriate, but guys react poorly to women who are significantly overweight for several reasons:
1)Health issue: People are naturally attracted to a healthy mate; girls who have visible eating disorders or are overweight to the point that it leads to other health problems is an issue. A healthy figure is incredibly telling.
2)Weight issues indicate a wide variety of insecurities which are difficult to deal with. The feeling that a women is not comfortable in her own body is not attractive. Weight issues normally bring along with them emotional baggage beyond the usual.
3)Responsiblity issue: If a girl can't keep herself at a healthy weight, will they lack disipline in other parts of their life.
4)Interest: Women basically know that keeping physically fit is beneficial in dating. There is a perception that a girl who is overweight can't be that interested in a serious relationship.
5)Practical issues: If you're a healthy active male, you'd like a healthy active female who can keep up with you. This is true for everything from hiking to dancing to ... you know.
Healthy weight is important for a healthy life. If you're overweight, get to a healthy weight for yourself. If you don't have a bit of natural pudge, than don't be afraid to put on a few pounds. Little bit of body fat is healthy and sexy.
That's why being overweight isn't sexually attractive. It doesn't justify treating someone poorly. Dealing with weight issues is enough of a burden without people shoving it in your face. That said, you did ask today and I am trying to be objective.

Uhm... well I don't make fun of 'overweight' girls... and am happy to go out with one if the personality is cool.
I mean when you get down to it... relationship is about communication... not size of parts.
I love women - been involved with serious anorexics as well as the relatively obese - all depends on the personality... they we're all beautiful people, and I loved them all.
I'd love any woman to ask me out - so many don't because of some social thing - so what if your on the overweight side?
Only an a** would turn down a good lady.
Heck, ask me out - if we can connect in email or IM, I'd be happy to meet up.
Its not weight - its the person.
Peace,
-dh

I hope you haven't been hurt by this sad world. It's just not reality to believe in a world of only skinny woman, though I think that's what is expected.....the truth is, All woman are beautiful, but like everyone they have imperfections, but beauty is there.....most even say it's mostly in their heart. But personally, I believe the eyes have more meaning then anything else.... and there is no such thing as ugly eyes!!!!! I wish I could make up to every girl or guy who has ever been hurt by the words of inconsiderate or stupid people.....I'm sorry....maybe that will help to a small degree.

Maybe its just sobriety, sorry, just kidding.
There are guys out there that dont focus on the superficial, the ones that do, are obviously not worth the time or effort.
As cliche as it is, be happy with yourself and the world will follow. But, hey be honest, if you even share a little of their views on the physical and weight, your projecting some negativity too. Also, don't be so jaded and expect that every guy is having a problem with your weight.

I'm the first guy to admit it but, guys are complete idiots. I admit I am ashamed of all the guys out there that pull that stuff. It shouldn't be an image issue but it is. They lack respect for other girls, hoping to find the "perfect gal."

It's not just an image issue for most, it's the stereotype and how to fit the mould and be popular that has guys excited

why would you be so closed minded and bigoted to make it seem like A) all guys are like this. and B) ONLY guys are like this.
I have seen far more cruel behavior from young ladies than from guys. I AM a man, and am not so bigoted to be mean spirited about somebodies body image.
You may want to look around yourself and realize that you are focusing on the negatives from the people that you are focusing on.
