I'm asking this because my neighbor has four of them. I must admit, these dogs are a little to weird for my taste. No offense to greyhound dog lovers...

Sometimes I'll be sitting outside in the back yard and glance over and one of those greyhounds is walking around on it's front 2 paws with it's back legs lifted completely off the ground! I didn't even know a dog could do that. Also, I've seen the male dog lift its leg on the females head and I've seen one of them drinking the urine as it was coming out of the other dog. Plus, one of them is always climbing the fence, like I imagine a cat would. It comes over and starts trying to dominate my dogs. I have 3 dogs, one is 90 lbs, one is about 80 lbs and the other one is 50 lbs. These greyhounds can't weigh more than 10 lbs, soaking wet.

Are they always this weird or are my neighbors just an exception?

I've recently been to a dog farm where many owners bring their dogs to this place where their dogs can play with other dogs. And there's this greyhound, very distinct from afar. It stood out among all the other dogs. But...it actually looked hideous, erm..far from adorable.

Probably it's my own imagination, i thought all the other dogs dislike it too, Cos the dogs were playing with each other, and it seemed to be ignored! =|

I love them! I like the dog that is different looking. Years ago I was deciding between an Italian Greyhound or a Chinese Crested. The Greyhounds have a little more energy than what I wanted (climbing fences) So I went with the Crested and I am glad I did but I do love to look at and play with the greyhounds. I have only had the pleasure of playing with one once but I loved it! From what I have read they are all that way, they have electrifying personalities and the energy to match and VERY FAST

My family has one and yes they are weird acting and looking. Far different than the Huskie and Golden we had in the past.

They are cold all the time and demand contestant affection , reassurance. If they are awake they are busy buzzing around. Very hard to housebreak ... basically only if you are looking at him is he housebroken. Very sweet though always looking to snuggle.Yes he does try to dominate big dogs ... he totally ignores and snubs small dogs.

We love him but would we get another ... not so sure.

Well the urine thing is pretty gross, but what is wrong with a dog having a goofy personality?

IGs are way to busy for me. But I do have Whippets and they have their moments as well. I love their quirky personalities and would take them over some 'bonehead' breed any day of the week!

Guess they are not for everyone.

As much as I admire the greyhounds for their speed (and their physique), I find them a little too odd-looking. They're just far too thin and look like their little dogs that got stratched in Mr Wonka's Factory. I know may people adore them but they're definitely not my idea of a dog I could cuddle and love..
