It seems that Shiite and Sunni Muslims have different beliefs that put them in conflict but what are the religious beliefs of the other ethnic group of Iraqi's, the Kurds? Also even though I'm jewish and don't support missionaries trying to convert Jews why not send missionaries into Iraq to convert the Iraqis to a Christian religion so they won't fight each other any more.

First I mean no disrespect to anyone's beliefs and at least now know that the Kurds are part of the Sunni Muslim religion. To be honest, the answers so far are increasing my confusion. Also, it seems that the Sunni Kurds don't take part in the differences that are being manifested in Iraq (how's that for a BIG word!!) so something else must be playing a role in the fighting.

Kurds are Sunnis.
Sunnis and Shias in Iraq are in conflict because of politics, not because of their religious differences. Sunnis have had the most power in Iraq for a very long time and now Shias are trying to be the main political leaders in Iraq.
Sending Christian missionaries just might make things worse, if things could get any worse over there. They don't need anymore foreign interference! And by the way, there are already many Christian Iraqis but I think they prefer to call themselves Assyrians.

Most Kurds are Sunni Muslims. And things are not that simple. Iraqi Muslims, be them Sunnis or Shiites are very religious Muslims. Those who're fighting are only a minority. So to say that Iraqi Muslims fight each other is a hasty sweeping generalisation which can be extremely misleading.

The Kurds are not interested in the quarrels between the other factions in Iraq, they want their own state formed from their ethnic areas in Turkey,Iran and Iraq. This is going to be another one of the conflicts that will develop as a result of the invasion of Iraq. Converting Muslims is as hard as converting Jews

The Kurds are at best nominally Muslim, in reality the Kurds are largely a secular people...
I just recently found out that I have non-Jewish ethnic Kurds in my family history, on my father's side...
My dad is a Sephardic Israeli Jew who was born in the Galilee to Syrian Jews from Damascus, who left Syria in the 1950's...

Kurds are officially Sunni with a lot of Persian and Kurdish folk customs. They are like Palestinians in that they are mostly Sunni, but their politics are more determined by aspirations for self-determination than by religion.

You see Sunnis and Shias all have lived peacefully but it is after 9/11 that it has become such a fuss.Mainly because the American government needed a reason to break the solidarity among the Iraqis so this is what they came up with.

The Quran condemns all sects. All sects in Islam, no remember if Sunni, Shias, Ahmaddis, Ismailli......and so on have disagreements approximately hadith and sunnah attributed to the prophet. notwithstanding, those comparable sects have no disagreements with regard to the Quran. it is components of non secular regulation, thoughts, conjecture, and so on. outdoors the Quran that have created those sects. on the tip of this text 3 "real" hadith have been produced with regard to the final sermon of the prophet. the different variations/conjecture gave upward push to sects. The final sermon of the prophet witnessed with tips from the 1000's has 3 variations. The variations the references are listed under. a million) I go away with you Quran and Sunnah Muwatta, 40 six/3 2) I go away with you Quran and Ahl al-bayt Muslim 40 4/4, Nu2408; ibn hanbal 4/366; darimi 23/a million, nu 3319. 3) I go away you for the Quran on my own you shall uphold it. Muslim 15/19, nu 1218; ibn Majah 25/80 4, Abu dawud 11/fifty six. because of the fact maximum human beings of the Muslims stick to conjecture (hadith and sunnah) rather of Quran on my own (17:40 six) as our author has commanded the "Muslims" are divided into sects. those sects are there because of the fact of variations and disagreements on Hadith particularly than disagreements over the Quran. Peace.

as far as conversions go christians and jews do thier fair share of fighting. It's not about religion anyway, those are just the groups that divide, people will find some banner to know who they think they can trust and rely on.
