Its now Friday, and it has started the flaking and peeling process, I was wiping off the old skin cream, with soap and water, which the people at the tat place told me to do and reapply the cream. When i did this I saw a small chunk of ink come off and its starting to freak me out. I am now more afraid to touch it when putting the cream on... What should i do??????

um--no you dont want to cover it with plastic.

I got my tattoo done in 3 stages-- the plastic wrap was only to be on for 2 hours after it was done.
your tattoo needs air to heal-covering it in plastic does not let air in or the moisture escape--causing major scabbing and possibly scarring.

just use vitamin A and D ointment 3x a day or when/if it feels dry.
it is normal for some color flecks to come off- mine did it as well & my tattoo is perfect--
be sure when you shower--to gently clean the area, do not rub it (just pat it when washing) and DO NOT use hot water or let hot water touch it.
I followed my tattoo guys instructions to a T - had no fading & had very little or no scabbing
Be sure to use A & D ointment though-you DO NOT want to use regular body lotion on your tattoo!!-you can get the cheapy version of A & D at the dollar store.
there are vitamins in it that help the healing process

This is normal for the tattoo to peel, the reason why you see the ink peeling is because your body secretes the ink when it's healing...no worries, the reason why it feels as though your skin is drying out is because your skin is healing, but keep it moist and don't use any moisture lotions with fragrance added, stay out of the sun, stay out of saltwater...you'll be fine...just keep your tattoo clean while it's healing. You need to let the tattoo breathe, so when you got home after a few hours you should have cleaned your tattoo and put some type of moisture on it....just let the air hit your tattoo, don't cover it back up.

When I got my tattoo the tattoo artist suggested that i use this stuff called bag balm to keep it from drying out and scabbing. She said it works better than the stuff made for tattoos. It worked really well for me i didn't have any problems. It comes in a red and green tin. It is made for cows and domestic animals, I know it sounds weird but it works. I found it at wal-mart in the pet section.

Go back to the tattoo parlor and let them know, they might know what to tell you. When I got one, it started to fade right away, the guy said they had used "cheap ink" and he went over it again with what I'm guessing was "better ink" Not sure why they used the cheap crap on me the first time, i mean, it's only a permanent thing on my body for the rest of my life!!

It is normal to loss some I have 5 and mine did the same thing. Put cream on it and DO NOT let it dry out or it will scab and you will have problems! Congrats on the tat

the exact thing happened to me, and now I have chucks of color missing from my tattoo. avoid contact with chairs and other things; the night after I got mine I sat back against a chair and when I got up there was ink on the back of the chair. the best advice I can give you is call your tattooist to avoid further damage to the tattoo

If you use a nonscented lotion and apply a few times a day so it doesn't dry out you are fine. Keeping a tattoo too moist also leads to excessive flaking and can pull the color out.

P.S.....don't rub it. :)
