Good luck with that one -- you can't teach most people not to be jealous either, and most people are almost as smart as most dogs.

The best you can really do is try to modify negative displays of jealousy using regular training techniques. Avoid the one worst trap, which is over-scolding. If you give the jealous dog a lot of attention during a scolding, he wins -- he got your full attention and took it from the other dog. Keeping that in mind, and the varying size and living arrangements you have with the jealous dog and other dogs, come up with an individual plan. I can provide no better answer, because I would not want to ignore a Great Dane that was sharing the run of the house with a Chihuahua -- the Chihuahua might pay a steep price.

Good luck.

You need to get the dog socialized, which most people do when it is still a puppy as part of training it. First you start with walking it on a leash, when another dog comes near hold your dog back let the dogs smell each other then slowly bring the dogs closer watch for any aggresion if some then back away quickly if not then let dogs play or just keep on with walk

If your dog regularly barks/lunges at other dogs on leash, this is actually leash frustration, with maybe some resource guarding thrown in.

Get somebody you know and trust to hold a second leash attached to your dog so it can't reach the other dog. If your dog starts to display, show teeth, bark, lunge, etc. drop your leash and walk briskly away from your dog as if disgusted.

Your dog is faced with a choice of what is most valuable, you or barking at the other dog. If you and your dog have a good, trusting relationship, your dog will choose you all of the time.

If it is possible maybe have your dog with you while you around this other dog to see if they can get along.
