God wanted Jesus to be born in a place where he can influence the people that really need his help. These people are the poor, excluded, beaten, rejected, and lame. Rome was gigantic at the time, and slowly going towards its downfall. This tension was causing mixed thoughts. Thus leading to religious persecution and Jesus' death. If he was born in what is today the US, he would have little people to help. There were only wandering tribes of people. Much more could have been done in a larger area that really needed the help.

The USA did not exist during the time Jesus was born. It was a foreign land, sparsely populated. The center of the world was from Rome to the mid-east. Plus, God's chosen people, the Israelites, all lived in the mid-east (most did).

I can tell you 2 motives:
1. In the Bible is a prophecy telling where will be born the Child.
"And you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, the one too little to get to be among the thousands of Judah, from you there will come out to me the one who is to become ruler in Israel, whose origin is from early times, from the days of time indefinite" [Micah 5:2]. This prophesy was written approx. in 717 b.C. Than its fulfillment is written down at Matthew 2:1. It says: "After Jesus had been born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, look! astrologers from eastern parts came to Jerusalem"
2. In those times they didn't even know about America. :-)

Because we are a YOUNG country honey, and when He was born, our nation did not yet exist. It simply was not in His timing or placement for us to be the place of the birth.
