I also want to re-learn French... I studied it in high school and college but it's been a while. Learning French is fairly hard for someone who is just starting out, especially the pronunciation, the pronunciation is completely different from english. If you can master French pronunciation, you're half way there. I recommend getting an audio course like Rosetta Stone, but there is no substitute for actually speaking the language with native speakers, total immersion in the language being the best option.

All other languages are difficult for English speakers.
The same as English is difficult for every not- English Speakers.
The Easiest language for you is Spanish. French is somewhat similar but more complicated although some sounds are similar like the voiceless e.
Anyway if you really want to learn French, get convinced that you'll accomplish that task and... Voila ma cherie

There are many Canadians who speak English and French, so I would suspect Australians can do this too.

Can you get by in Australia using just English?

you could try to go the "Alliance Française" if there is one where you live. It is like a French school with teachers having a special French diploma to teach French.
