Just take him out for an evening .... dinner, a movie, bowling, whatever. Take it slowly at first, and then get him out in the social scene, by taking him to places where there will be single women of his age.

You could ask him to take ballroom dance lessons with you so that you can meet girls.... or Trivia nights, and you grab the table with the women who seem most likely to be his type.

I'm sure there are plenty of women who would love to meet a lovely, shy non-player ! I would for one !!

He might not want to. It can be a very touchy subject for a man in his 50's to date. There have been huge changes in dating over the past 12 years, plus some men just like to be left alone. Don't confuse shyness for Independence.

Suggest on-line dating or chat rooms. Many of my older friends have met great mates on the Internet. Just make sure it is one of the respectful sites and not some on-line thing full of Physco

First things first - what does your dad want? Does he want to be out dating and looking for advice for this or is he content being on his own and you want to see him dating?

As long as he has some sort of social support, there is no reason for that to involve a women.

Your father is pretty set in his ways. Twelve years is a very long time.
