I weigh 224 Lbs. and i'm 5'2. I want to get down to 110-137 lbs (healthy weight for my height) but all my friends and family are telling me that its not possible for me to lose that much weight, is that true?

No that is not true. If you have the will you can lose it.
Eat light healthy meals., exercise regular, start out with short walking trips and work yuorself up to a mile if possible in your area.
You watch your diet and walk a mile everyu day you are going to lose weight.
Eat more fish and less meats, stop fried foods, (baked or boiled.)
cut out soft drinks, sweets, eat wheat bread (about a slice or two a day)use very little microna, speggette, rice, potatoes, or other pastry type foods.
Eat more veggies, fruit, and water rather than coffee.tea/ or soft drinks. drink some fruit juice.

No. I know people who did the South Beach diet and lost over 100 pounds. My Mom did it and she only did whatever it told her to eat until she got to her ideal weight, then began not being SO strict about it, but still eating healthy. She hasn't gained it back and it's been 2 years.

It is false. You can lose that much weight but it'll be hard work. There is no miracle pill. Diet and Excercise. I suggest seeing a nutrionist. You can do it if you work hard enough for it.
