Funny, but I can't remember any totally daytime litters! some are born in the morning, but hard labor seems to begin at night..Just about bedtime..

It is more common for the pups to be born at night or in the early hours of the morning than during the day. Tell your neighbor to start taking the girl's temperature 2x a day starting a few days before she is due. The normal temp of a dog is about 102, and it will drop to 99 or 98 degrees around 24 hours beforehand. Sometimes as the first puppy starts to come out, the female thinks she needs to go to the bathroom. It is not uncommon for a pup to be born outside, so once she starts labor make sure the dog goes out on leash and carry towels and a flashlight.

When my dog went into labor, it was 1:00 pm in the afternoon. She didn't have her first puppy until 4:45 pm. She had a total of 6 puppies, with the last one being born at 7:30 pm. So I guess it depends on the dog, the environment and many other issues.

canines supply beginning each time their physique says that's time. It does look as though they constantly supply beginning in the process the night yet that may not actual. We had doggies right here the day gone by morning at 11:00 AM. of direction, I had no sleep for 2 nights earlier yet she did have them in the process the day. :-)

Rodents are nocturnal (they sleep during the day and are awake at night) not so with dogs.

yes they are because they see things at night and get startled and scared and there are trying to call other dogs and they are keeping people and unwanted things away

I may be wrong, but I think they give birth at night more, because it's more quiet.
