Though the cause of Restless Leg Syndrome is not known, there are some links to heredity and to medical causes such as iron deficiency anemia, poor blood circulation in the legs, nerve problems, muscle disorders, kidney disorders, alcoholism, and vitamin or mineral deficiencies. Other factors that may trigger Restless Leg Syndrome include starting or stopping certain medications, caffeine consumption, smoking, fatigue, hot temperatures or extended time in cold temperatures.
Before prescribing a specific treatment, your health care provider needs to be certain you have Restless Leg Syndrome. You will likely be referred to a sleep specialist for diagnosis, and to determine whether related conditions (such as iron deficiency anemia, diabetes, arthritis or the use of anti-depressants) are contributing to the symptoms.
Home remedies – hot baths, leg massage, applied heat – are effective for some people with Restless Leg Syndrome. Vitamin E and supplemental calcium have also helped. When home remedy is not effective, Restless Leg Syndrome can be managed with prescription medication.Some sleeping pills help too.

Oh my goodness, isn't this an awful feeling? Some nights I just can't hold my legs still, can't stay in bed. I have found that Tonic Water is good for this but it's so darned bitter, I don't know if the cure's worse than the symptoms. I have been told that if you put apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle and spray your legs with it, it will stop the restlessness almost immediately. I haven't had a chance to try it yet but it sounds a whole lot better than the Tonic Water. My grandmother used to rub her legs with rubbing alcohol and thought that helped.

It means your circulation is poor. or your muscles are not exercised enough.
MY two favorites are as follows;
Lay on your bed and lift your legs up off ofthe bed several times.
Every night try doing deep knee bends.(start with 10) work your way to 20. just before bedtime. if you are able to reach over and touch your toes several times. I fyou ar eable to jog a shor run or jog would do wonders for the restless leg syndrome.,\\
Stay away from caffine 3 to 4 hours before bedtime.

My Gran, Mum and I have all suffered with that for many years.... until I mentioned it to a boss a few years ago.... Tonic water before bed (without the gin, unfortunately) or whenever you need to take it. It has quinine in it, which has been medically proven to help this syndrome, my doctor once talked about quinine based medication for me, but the tonic water does the trick every time.
Its a nasty thing to suffer from, I hope you find peace soon...

Yes. I've observed one woman whose restless legs completely settled about 10 minutes into a thorough "Rogering." I recommend to repeat this proceedure as needed.

My fiance takes Tylenol P.M. before bed. My ex took an anti-seizure prescribed drug before bed. Both seem to work. But the anti-seizure medicine made my ex real stupid for about 2 weeks. He couldn't think correctly and was real spacey. After that 2 week period, he became himself again.

Good question...I have it as well...(besides my sleep deprivation problem that I inquired about earlier)..I'll be watching to see what people say...It's such a nagging aggravation. Not enough to hurt...just extremely irritating and UNrelaxing.
