For starters, you need to take the SAT if you haven't done so already. You should then research colleges online and apply to them. Keep in mind that state schools are cheaper than private schools. You will need to write a personal statement (no more than 2 pages) expressing your interests for going to college and what your aspirations are. The deadlines are usually in November or December. The applications will tell you where to send your high school transcript. Your high school administration office will provide the transcripts. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete the federal financial aid application (Jan.). You will need a copy of your parents' income tax records for the previous year. You will hear from the admissions department in March or April. Big envelopes are good and small envelopes are bad. I hope that this helps. Best wishes.

First sign up for the ACT or SAT, you might want to check with schools you are interested in to see which they prefer but most will take either. Then talk with admissions officers at schools you are interested in, they will help fill in the blanks for most of the remaining information you need. Transcripts will be acquired from either your high school if you recently graduated or through the district office if it has been a while so contact your high school to find out the process there, some times the admissions officer will even do this for you. You will need to apply to the school of your choice and usually pay an application fee, some jr colleges do not charge application fees. After you are accepted into school the financial aid office will see what you qualify for, you can speed up this process by completing your FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov and listing the school code (you can list up to 6). At any time you get confused just call the school they know the first time you complete the process it is a bit confusing and are there to help you.

First get your high school transcripts from the high school you graduated. You can go back and get it from the administrators office. I'm assuming you want to go to a local community college, so you would have to do a little research on the internet, and search for colleges near you. You can usually apply online and all you have to do is to fill out forms. Then if you find some colleges that you are interested in, go take a visit and schedule an appointment with a counselor and discuss about how to apply and get financial aid.

There are lots of books that give advice on how to apply for colleges, and which colleges are the best for you. Go to the local library and ask the librarian to help you out. They will point you in the right direction and you will be able to get started on the process.

Or, you could just go to the office of the local community college, apply for admission at the office, and they will tell you what you need to do. Community college is not very expensive and you can take one or two courses just to see how you like it. Then while you are doing that first course or two you could investigate what area you would like to get a degree in.... There is no rush, lots of older students come back to college and get their degrees slowly over a period of a few years. It's routine these days.

ps don't start by taking the SAT or spending any extra money. Read up or visit the CC first. There is no
rush, you have time to check things out first.

For high school transcripts, you can go back to your high school, and ask the admission to send your transcript to you or the school you might going to.

you can go to community college at first, and then transfer to a four-year university, in this way, you can save some money...
If you want to go to a community college, choose one that is near by your house. For most community colleges, their winter session opens in January, and spring session might opens in February. After you decide which community college you want to go....go there, and then pick up an application for winter/spring. Then, they will tell you when to take the text, when to register for classes, etc....
