It isn't that I don't want to be in a relationship, but I'm not really willing to lay down the time and money required to pursue a girl. Odds are I will remain single, until the right person drops in my lap or I convince friends to set me up with someone.

Honestly, I go to bars where I know I can avoid meeting eligable women to avoid getting involved. I'm kind of guilty about the whole thing, because it is feeling about like time to jump back into the dating game. That said, I'm relatively happy with work and my social circle, so dating isn't that urgent.

Any suggestions on dealing with the "guilt" of being single?

Well, to be honest with you, being single is just fine...for a time. But you sound pretty passive to me and just to let you in on a little secret, women think that passive men are huge bores, lazy and selfish. We don't want a man 'pursuing' us if their heart is not fully in it. So, it is a good thing that you are not dating because you wouldn't be good for anyone right now-do you know what I mean? Also, what is that-"I'm not willing to spend the time and money REQUIRED to pursue a girl"? Let me tell you something, with that kind of attitude you wil end up an old, lonely bachelor.Good women worth pursuing do not REQUIRE a lot of money, but you are right about the time it takes to build a relationship with someone, but it is worth it. All we really want is to KNOW the men we love. We want all of you. It's pretty simple actually.I hope I have not offended you, but I tell it like it is.

Why would you ever have the guilt for being single? It's good that you are not forcing youself to get into any relationship since you know that you are not ready to commit yourself. Putting yourself into something that you don't want to be in will only make you suffer. However, try not to be too negative about being into a relationship. When the time comes, and you meet the girl of your dreams, don't pull back or you'll regret it for the rest of your life. That would then make you live in greater guilt.

If you are "relatively happy" then why feel guilty for not dating? It is OK to be single. Marriage / kids are not for everyone- outside pressure as being the "third wheel" in social situations should not be a reason to date. One should date because of a genuine interest in another-or at least self honesty about loneliness etc. otherwise it is untrue to both yourself and the other to date just because you feel guilty. be yourself. good luck.

Being single should not harbor no guilt. The right person will come into your life and your heart will let you know it.

Absolutely. It takes so much work, and is such a drain. If you're fulfilled otherwise, why waste time with someone who isn't fantastic?

Did you know that statistically, single people die younger than married people?
