People are poor in many different ways, financially,
spiritually, lacking in companionship, loss of loved
ones. The best way to help others is to get out
and interact with them...find out what their needs
are. Charitable donations are great. But personal
involvement is much more beneficial.

Volunteer in your community... Deliver meals to shut-ins and invalids with Meals WIth Wheels... distribute clothing and serve meals at your local homeless shelter... build houses with Habitat for Humanity... become an advocate for abused children... become a BIg Brother or Big Sister.... these are just a few of the ways you can help out in your community... I'm sure there are many more ways.

Give poor people you time and friendship. Don't forget that they are still people. Also, food or clothing is good because you know that they can use it. The problem with giving them $ is that some might spend it on alcohol or drugs.
